I like my little Sirius radio. Works well, plays a wide assortment of music and talk shows. Pretty inexpensive.
I have no advice on satellite radio systems. But just want to chime in that terrestrial radio has changed for the worse. On weekends, it seems that all the AM stations have infomercial programs for vitamins or health products. And these programs run All day long.
On FM, the music stations seem to have much more commercisl time than they used to. And it seems that they have narrowed their playlists so much that you hear the same songs over and over. I’m not talking about top 40 type stations which have heavy rotation of current hits. I mean stations such as classic rock or easy listening play the same oldies constantly.
Sorry to vent here. But I find myself listening to radio less and less due to these reasons.
If you want your subscription money being used to fund perverts like Howard Stern and Playboy, go ahead and get Sirius XM, they have one (so-called) “conservative” channel among all the pure crap.
You are better off using an internet radio service, you will have endless amount of choices
You can always stream via the internet. As long as wifi is available you can use a smartphone, tablet or laptop. Here’s a good source for stations; http://streamingradioguide.com/
Shoot, I haven’t had terrestrial radio in my house for close to a decade now. I use a stiletto Sirius receiver with a home docking station (that’s ancient, you’ll need whatever the current version is). I use a separate Pyle Pro amplifier to drive my speakers.
I use a standalone ‘radio’ software on my desktop and laptop. It has some local and well-known national radio stations.
Sirius is crap. The music is so compressed that it hurts your ears to listen to it. There is only one conservative talk station. My advice is to just get a Bluetooth receiver and stream from your phone.
How about internet radio?
I live in Central Louisiana, where the boring LSU claptrap breaks in, on the only classic rock station in the area.
I tried ‘iheart radio’ on the cellphone and the laptop. It kept updating with all the crap bebop, hickhop, and other banalities that think they are music, more than once a day.
For ‘internet raddio’, I use Live365, which has been around for 10 years, and I have been listening that long.
For a good classic rock and sophomoric humor, there does exist ‘the Walton and Johnson Show/app’. Go to their dot com, look it over, (believe me, they hate this Communist administration). I get them from 0530 to 0945-ish Monday through Friday. (After being a ‘Bob and Tom’ listener, these guys have been doing it longer, and they are not NYC-centric).
Satellite radio will die. Consider a podcasting/Web casting application like Tune-In or Stitcher.

Only good easy listening station in Pittsburgh turned mod country. Searched everywhere on www for streaming music worth listening to. Only good station I’ve found was WHLC which streams out of western North Carolins. WKTZ is also not bad but their bit rate is relatively low fidelity. You can Google them to find their stream.
Some sources to find stations that stream on the internet with content that you like are:
Good luck. If you like Easy Listening civilized music there are some stations out there but it will take a major effort to find them.
I like Tune In Radio. It is an app that streams hundreds of AM and FM radio stations free of charge. We live in a remote, rural location with few choices over the air. Tune In is playing in my house most of the day!
