The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks.
No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. There is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
Thanks for the pictures. It sounds like you are making some good use of our mild weather.
I luvs my internets...!
Thanks, Silentgypsy! I think it’ll be fun!
I’m feeling much better!
Thanks!
Did you feel the earthquake? I thought the one I read about-5.7, IIRC,was up your way.
Why yes, Yes I did... I had the garden nap duty from 1 to 2 pm and was just dozing off at 1.08 when it felt like I had ODed on my BP meds until I saw the birdfeeders swaying back and fourth. About this time Lady Bender stepped out of the front door and bellared “ARE YOU OK TUBE?” Most of the neighbors did not feel it. This area is very prone to many quakes with a few BIG ones thrown in for laughs...
I noticed Costco had a large selection of Organic vegetable Seeds yesterday.
Organic was a bonus on the ones I got. I was looking for heirloom seeds because I am working towards growing the food AND harvesting seeds so I can keep a steady supply without chasing seeds for the next crop.
All my Grand Mas saved their seeds to grow for the next season. I wish I had paid better attention when they were trying to teach me such a valuable skill.
I think Baker Creek is the best source of Heirloom veggie seeds
Thank you I am making a note of that for future reference.
I vote for Baker Creek for heirlooms too. Huge number of choices and beautiful catalog. Headquartered in Missouri.
Orders are filled in a timely manner, and no problems getting the seeds to grow.
