You could use System Restore to go to a restore point before you installed it.

Download MalwareBytes and CCleaner. Boot into Safe Mode. Use MalwareBytes to scan and clean your machine. Uninstall the program from within CCleaner, and run CCleaner to purge your registry and file system of all traces of the program.

Or, if you have a backup or system restore point, just go back to before you installed it. In Control Panel, click ‘Recovery’ and open system restore. Restore from the point just prior to installing the program.

Iobit Uninstaller does a good job of removing all traces of a program pretty well. Just use the Powerful Scan option.

What you need is a less annoying chunk of Malware to distract you from the mess you have now. I recommend downloading all the porn you can find until you get a virus. This way, you have a better reason to go to an IT professional for help. “I downloaded this virus on my computer intentionally” gets face palm award.

(Synically, and learnedly, I post this because,... I have been there. LOL) (Not with the porn part)

Make sure you write a scathing review of this product and post it everywhere you can find.

Some good advice here IMHO...

CCleaner is a reliable tool, free to download, no malware and they don’t try to upsell...I’ve used it for a couple years with no problems at all...Offers upgrades to the latest free version whenever available...

Iobit Uninstaller is also a free download and has worked well for me...

I use a little freeware program that uninstalls programs and associated files. It is pretty good.

GeekUninstaller

“I made the mistake of trying Wondershare converter to convert .pdf to .pub. It doesn’t.”

For your original need to convert PDF to Epub, try Calibre. Calibre is open-source software.

For converting Epub to PDF and a lot of other formats try Pandoc:

Pandoc is open-source, is for Windows/Mac/Linux, and is almost universally used in the Linux world for document format conversion.

As you have already discovered, wondershare is garbage. I had problems with them but the uninstall went well but it wasn’t the pdf thing. It was the ‘convert-powerpoint- to video’. Communicating with ‘tech support’ was worthless.

Good luck!

Open Default Programs by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Default Programs.

In Default Programs, you can:
Show all
Set your default programs
Associate a file type with a program
Change AutoPlay settings
Set default programs for this computer

wow.

BTW, has anyone noticed that the new LibreOffice lets you open PDF files and edit them??

Although I do not know what a .pub file is

You need to totally remove it. You also need to tell Windows that it needs to always open PDF files with a PDF reader or in a browser and not Wonderfile.

I don’t remember how to do that though

Thanks for all the advice. I finally man-handled it out by going into each program file and slaughtering it with my Sword of Righteousness. Took time, but it’s dead.
