Islamic State is already referring to the Paris attacks as another ghazva, promising many more.
The sheikh believed that if subjected to constant intimidation and fear of death, most non-Muslims, especially in the West, would submit to Islam in exchange for a minimum of tranquility.
In any case, the sheikh quoting historian Paul Kennedy, has no doubt that America is destined to fall.
The sheikh s theory is built on the concept of terror as the main organizing principle of the mini-states he hopes to set up in preparation for the coming caliphate.
Islamic State s message is stark: Western civilization is doomed. Its last bastion, America, lacks the will for war. The infidel loves life and treats it as an endless feast. Jihadis have to ruin that feast and persuade the infidel to abandon this world in exchange for greater rewards in the next.
Terrorism is a beast with an extraordinary ability to mutate. As soon as its victims have learned to cope with its methods, it develops new ones.

Men Claiming They Were With ISIS Prompts Massive Police Response Downtown
CHICAGO (CBS) With both the nation, and the city, on high alert, police are taking no chances on potential terrorist threats.
Last night, there was a large police response on the Gold Coast, as officers were trying to figure out whether an incident was the real deal, a false alarm or a drunken joy ride.
On Rush Street last night, SWAT teams descended with heavy weapons, after two people pulled up in a white van and yelled out that they were with ISIS.
The suspects were described as bearded men in a white van with temporary plates. When police tried to stop them, the van sped away.
Uniformed cops and SWAT teams buzzed the area but they never caught the suspects.
Police now believe they were probably just joking around.
CBS 2 Security Consultant Ross Rice said: It s something common sense would tell you you can t and shouldn t do.
You cant make false threats. You can t claim there s a bomb on a plane. You can t go up and down the street yelling you re ISIS. It just doesn t work.
Today, SWAT teams hit the CTA Blue Line at LaSalle after reports of a suspicious person of Middle Eastern descent who kept looking around suspiciously, according to police dispatch reports.
Despite the response, ... police later said the report was unfounded.

What ISIS is saying to misfits in Europe and elsewhere, -You re 15 or 16 years old. You don t have a girlfriend. You re not doing well in school. You re not recognized by your family. -
Come to Syria, we ll have a concubine for you, so you ll have sex and at the same time, you want adventure? We ll give you guns. That s the appeal. It s very intoxicating. But this is not a real army, they can be defeated if there was a will to do so.-
How do you stop ISIS?
I don t think (U.S. President Barack Obama) recognizes that we re in a war.
We have to use air power. We have to use our special forces and military equipment we have and we can destroy ISIS. If they made me president tomorrow, the first thing I would do is send in 750 sorties a day. We re going to bomb everywhere we can. If the French can find a target-rich environment as they did in Raqqa, why can t we?
Westerners say we don t want war, - but what they don t get is ISIS is saying: War wants you.
