The movie was downloaded illegally more than 750,000 times during the course of the day. That may have something to do with the limited release of the film in theaters, and the fact that it was only released in the U.S., or even that two of the streaming options, Microsoft's Xbox and Sony's Playstation systems, both went down on Christmas and are still having problems.` Regardless of the reasons, it's still not a good sign for Sony's plans to recoup some of the losses caused by the hack with revenue from the movie.
There's no official numbers yet, but Variety reported that The Interview grossed nearly $1 million from just the movie theaters it played in. It's hard to compare the somewhat odd release of The Interview with other movies, but it's possible to at least look at some of the numbers and get a sense for how much this ordeal affected the money the movie will make compared to other offerings. For instance, Neighbors, Rogen's last big movie, grossed $49 million in its opening weekend, while Knocked Up, another Judd Apatow movie starring Rogen and Katherine Heigl, brought in about $30.6 million in its opening weekend.

It is a typical Seth Rogen movie. Lots of sophomoric scatological humor. If you like Seth Rogen movies, you’ll like this one. If you don’t, you won’t. It’s just a silly comedy. It’s not meant to be a documentary.
Yep, tough choice there...
Seth Rogan or Bruce Willis (DieHard movie marathon)
Guess who won in our household?
Merry Christmas!
;-)
I watched a couple of Cannon episodes and both had Anthony Zerbe guest starring. A least a fairly jolly fat man was on screen.
I think the author meant how many of you accidentally clicked a link and discovered that it was The Interview and watched a few seconds to see what it was then started puking in disgust at what you were seeing...
I actually found it fairly amusing. It’s no “Citizen Kane”, but there is a lot worse out there. I actually thought “The Wolf of Wall Street” was a lot more over the top. You just have to know what to expect.
Mythbusters marathon won in our house, interspersed with Dr. Who.
I watched it for free, and it was OK, better than we normally get from Rogen, or Will Ferrell.
I actually laughed out loud a few times, I liked the writing for the CIA, and guy who played Kim Jong-un was a crack up.
FWIW, I thought The Gambler is a good movie about the slide to total destruction as a precursor to redemption. It had a lot of good, quick social commentary, too. The critics didn't give it terrific reviews.
MeTV is a new phenomenon in our household (plus the DVR).
Adam-12
Dragnet
Night Gallery
Emergency!
Route 66
Black Sheep Squadron
Perry Mason
I Love Lucy
Wish they’d add Cannon to it! What channel was it on?
The basketball scene, playing ona8 foot hoop was funny. Katy Perry playing in the tank was funny.
That was it.
Honored to say I did not waste my time..........
Cannon ran on ME-TV for a long time. Weekly for a year or so then a long time on Sunday’s Catch ME.
I would like to see Barnaby Jones on ME.
ME-TV got me to appreciate Adam 12, Hawaii 5-0, Big Valley, and learned about Thriller.
You brought back childhood memories! “A Quinn Martin Production!”
There are a couple of YouTube channels with Cannon and Mr. Jones. Most are 3 speed VHS dubs. Beats nothing.
Had to love QM Productions. I liked them since people got introduced up front. Another was that some special guest star was someone that had almost no recognition most of the time.
I predict that Sony’s next move, supported by the movie industry, MPAA, and Obama, will be to root out and threaten with prosecution everyone that downloaded and watched a pirated movie. That it was a bad movie or that everyone else was doing it is no defense to stealing the movie. Sony will want their $6 and damages, even more so when they can drag it out of conservatives who otherwise profess high moral standards. Yes, I suspect a setup so if you did download and watch a pirated version, I sure hope you enjoyed it.
So true, along with the voice talent announcing the show and guest stars. “Cannon” in particular was introduced by a deep baritone!
