He’s a danger to others. Lock him up in a maximum security prison for the rest of his life.

A quick death would put him out of his misery, and ours. Mom and dad will adjust.

Why should Holmes get life when he took the lives of 12 of his victims? Holmes gets to see holidays, enjoy visits with his family. The only family visits the victims might get will be at their graves.
Sorry, but the insanity defense is overused. A lot of people have mental illness. They don’t go to a movie theater and open fire. Holmes isn’t crazy. He’s just plain evil.
To: BenLurkin
he was in the throes of a psychotic episode,His victims were in the throes of a violent life-ending episode.

Yeah, mom and dad, we hear these kind of sad excuses all the time, with the single exception that you haven't described him as an 'aspiring rap artist trying to get his life back together'.
What you have there is the human equivalent of a rabid dog. It doesn't matter if he was a cute little tyke once, you let him grow up to be dangerously crazy, so blame yourselves in part for what happen to him.
As far as a justification for executing him (I prefer a rope, but that's just me), I prefer an old Texas legal standard - he's a man who just deserves killing.

Tell that to the families of those he murdered. Let’s see how they see it. This is not Iran where those injured can forgive someone on the gallows even though liberals want it to be like that. If it was one of my family I would tell the parents: Tough, deal with it.
To: BenLurkin
I don't blame the parents for fighting for their son's life. That's what parents are supposed to do.
But hopefully he's a dead man walking.

before the mass shooting, he never harmed anyoneSounds like a new twist on the "Why is it that every time you lose something, you always find it in the last place that you look" tautology.
So, no harm, no foul I guess...

. . . adding that before the mass shooting, he never harmed anyone and ... had no criminal history.Yeah, if it weren't for that one killing spree, he'd be a perfect little angel!
To: BenLurkin
The parents have never denied his guilt and have always said everyone's sympathy should go to the victims and families.
No reports have been released, but the press has hinted that one shrink thinks he's legally insane.
