Thanx
I agree Rome and Israel were disappointing. Israel was the most disappointing as it is all commercialism which sucked. Buy some holy water from the River? What? Stick you hand down this whole over a large church where Jesus died on the cross......yep a mound of dirt is what you feel when you stick your hand down the marble hole over a very expensive church. Yuk! And that is as a Catholic I say that.
Sorry stay clear of Israel worst place on Earth. I was most disappointed in the country. Too commericism....Sad!
The scarf was for visiting Islamic country and go into mosques and Christian churches. Do you have a recommendation to the contrary?
My wife is 58 and a strong Christian. Don’t see her going sharia anytime soon
For the Navy it is USS ARIZONA. Thank God I was able to see it. Sad as hell.
I’ve got to correct one thing: I’d be happy to be in Key West at this very moment, as here it is just above freezing with dense fog and general misery outside. Just keep me away from the gay bars and any bars, for that matter.
1. The entire BUILDING reeked of cigarette smoke and everybody was a puffer in there, which I didn't think was even legal anymore (this was 2009). I wanted a refund on the basis of my health. The bored guy behind the counter told me he couldn't do it, I never should've got a reservation there (couldn't agree with him more), and that I'm free to take it up with my lawyer.
2. It took 90 minutes to even get to the front counter, and I already had a damn room reservation. All he needed to do was check my credit card, ID, and hand me a key. Three little old ladies could've run the place faster.
3. The people at the airport were rude. The guy at the car rental place was rude, I was 3rd in line and it took me half an hour to get out of there.
4. EVERYWHERE you go in Vegas: if you're not dropping a million dollars in the place and have a host in tow, you're livestock. I'm serious, I've dealt with nicer tow companies and loan sharks pawn shops.
Opinions differ, but there's NOTHING there for me. The stories about the economic decline of Vegas crack me up and I hope a 100-ft meteor hits the place.
I picked up on that, also.
You sure have a lot of amazing details in your mind, though.
The ancient city of Petra, Jordan was on my “Bucket List” for years, until I did a little research.
It seems that hapless, emaciated donkeys are used to ferry the tourists through the site, and they are treated very cruelly by the locals. I’m not a crazy fanatic about animal rights, but I can’t stand cruelty and abuse.
I crossed it off my list.
I couldn’t agree more.
Do they still have the roller coasters there? That’s all I was interested in, I mean besides the Red Rock park, the dam and other things outside town.
Heck, I thought it was Russian, lol.
I read comic books...
And, oh-by-the-way, I’m talking about the LUXOR here.
Now that’s the truth. Gettysburg is haunted.
Where did you go? Trekking? Climbing while there?
I’ve never been to mainland Greece but I’ve been to the islands of Corfu and Rhodes. That was great!!
Actually, the Florida Keys do not usually get hit by the big storms as Cuba usually pushes them far enough away. I had always been under the same impression and vowed never to live in a hurricane zone.
After hearing that, I would consider living in Key West.
Yep. You get the sewer on the strip and cigarettes in the hotels. Just the place for me—NOT.
I had never even heard of your example but had crossed it off my list as it was a muslim country. I visited Morocco in 1999 but will likely never visit a muslim country again in my lifetime. I always wanted to see Petra but alas will probably only see it from Google maps.
I am funny in that I like having my head attached to my shoulder.
