My Dad just sent me a timely txt and wanted to know if I am a Rosicrucian.
Nope.
But, the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum, in San Jose, is a terrific place for children of all ages to visit and have an immersive and tactile experience of Egypt.
I should go there.
Haven’t been in about 5 years.
This thread is fun!
Almost any deployment.
Afghanistan was pleasant enough...aside from the douche-bags who tried to kill me.
Iraq was exciting, mostly due to the douche-bags who tried to kill me.
I had a stop in Qatar and it was alright. The douche-bags seemed to WANT to kill me but restrained themselves.
I enjoyed Kyrgyzstan. I didn’t see any douche-bags who wanted to kill me.
Better yet, Roger, the then-maître d', would often pour me a complimentary glass of vintage port. Kirby imported and labeled his own port...and he had very good taste.
However, the bowl of hot soup, the Bloody Marys and the rack of lamb -- with that view -- do sound priceless. And I don't even like lamb...
Instead of going to those henges they should visit Carhenge in Alliance, Nebraska!
The world’s largest ball of twine (Darwin, MN) is always popular!
North Korea maybe
LOL!
I’d add the Florida Keys to the list too.
Damn trailer park central and the only place with half a beach is Isla Morada.
We camped in that area for free and a wonderful young man who was posted with a UN peacekeeping force gave us some of his care package which his sister had sent him. We were traveling bare bones so really appreciated the goodies.
I loved Egypt. The pyramids were commercialized but fabulous to consider how old they were. I would love to go back to Egypt and Israel (which we also visited) some day.
Just what you want in a hurricane zone: Lightweight and flimsy.
I went to Jamaica once. It would take a large pile of cash to get me to go back. That and Oaxaca, Mex are the only two places where we’ve cut things short and paid to get out of there.
Back when I went to Stonehenge, you could walk around in the circle; it wasn’t fenced off. Don’t know if it would be worth going back.
It's just south of Oil Trough, AR and a bit west of Chigger Ridge.
The names remind me of Big Bone Lick State Park in Kentucky. Located between Rabbit Hash and Beaver Lick. Must have had something on their mind when they named those areas...
Having spent two delightful weeks in Paris in 2012, I have my doubts about the accuracy of this list. I could go anywhere easily; order in English, experience great European history and generally found the Parisians to be friendly and helpful. The list is pushing stereotypes.
Maybe you accidentally ended up in Paris, Texas!
Worst place I ever visited was Niagra Falls.Looked exactly the same as every picture or movie you ever saw of it.In 15 minutes I was ready to go home.
I have always told everyone......if there aren’t palm trees and beach it’s not a vacation.
We bought a 40 ft sailboat about 10 years ago and it has been my vacation ever since.
Does it fit in your pool? :<)
Wow!! As I was reading this article I thought, “Just give me a tent and sleeping bag in the UP and I would be a happy woman.” One of the greatest hidden treasures of the world.
Had a friend who grew up in Niagara Falls.
He observed that you can hear the falls all over town. And, of course, it never, ever stops -- night or day (except for the rare times when it freezes).
Eventually, he said, the natives get used to it and become inured to the constant sound. But it drives newbies crazy...
Summer before last I took my teenage granddaughter to the Santa Barbara mission. Couldn’t believe she’s lived here all her life and had never been to one. We wound up there on a Sunday just in time for mass so sat through one.
One summer when I was young my mom and stepdad took me to every mission within driving distance of LA. Lol
“Nepal- as close to heaven as you can get. Literally.”
I was there back in 92’. What an adventure.
Lol nope. It is docked in a marina in beautiful Ventura. ;)
I’ve always warned people to avoid LA ...but the California you revile is beaUtiful! I defy many places to top Yosemite, love sequoia and Kings Canyon.
My favorite state: UTAH ... Absolutely beautiful!
