The big win by the Buckeyes probably put them into the final four of the College Football Playoff. The rankings by the committee (due in about 25 hours) are likely going to be:
Tide
Ducks
Noles
Bucks
And they beat them 59-0 with a third string quarterback starting his first game.
No. No matter how flawed the BCS was and the playoff is, both are better than having a bunch of sportswriters deciding the champion.
Well I don’t agree and I’m not alone.
But like I said I don’t think FSU fans have anything to worry about, I’d be shocked if they were left out.
I’m just glad it’ll be #5 and #6 pissed off this year, instead of #3 like it’s been up till now.
Under the old system it would have been FSU #1 Alabama #2, for sure, with Oregon left out in the cold.
I only watch for the signs and the occasional Katy Perry.
Problem solved.
You know what’s amazing when you think about it.
We are talking about TWO Texas teams in the Top Four, and neither is UT or A&M.
Alabama would be at the Sugar Bowl.
TCU would be at the Cotton Bowl.
Oregon would be at the Fiesta Bowl.
Ohio State would be at the Rose Bowl.
Florida St. would be at the Orange Bowl.
Pick your opponents and you have 10 teams.
more games = more money, I dont understand the need to restrict the number of playoff games to 4 anyway.
Honestly, it is hard to argue either way. I guess the only thing I can think of is OSU played an extra game.
I think it is stupid not to have an 8 team playoff.
I think adding more playoff teams cheapens the regular season, and rewards the healthiest team in January.
Look at college basketball, who cares about the regular season?
58-61 is a basketball score, not a matchup between two national contenders.
TCU lost to Baylor
Ohio State lost to freaking Va Tech
TCU should go, even Baylor
No, I mean the OLD days: Rose Bowl in the old days was Big 10 Champion against the Pac 10(8) champion. Orange Bowl was SEC champion vs the Big 12(8) champion. And there was no such thing as the God-damned Fiesta Bowl.
I respectfully disagree. I think a four time playoff is just right.
My reason for this opinion is that every game this season has mattered realizing that only a quartet would make the finals. I contrast that with college basketball where the regular season is largely immaterial because of the number of teams making it into March Madness. I enjoy college basketball but don't even bother watching until the selection is made. With football and its limited number of selections, I haven't missed a weekend of watching. And I stay up late for Rece Davis and "College Football Final".
You seem to be under the hilarious misperception that we’re talking about golf. Losing 58-61 on the road against a top 5 team is a hell of a lot better than getting your ass kicked in 21-35 by the lowly 3-5 Hokies in your own stadium!
It's more football, less controversy, and it's provably possible since the FCS has been doing it for decades.
The bowl system is silly as it stands now with so many consolation bowls. I'd much rather watch Bowl games that actually matter, and see the College Football post-season have the excitement of the NFL post-season.
Well, to be clear, the SEC was 100% Sugar Bowl. In even older days Tennessee did lose to Southern Cal 14-0 in 1940, it was the Rose Bowl.
It not as dyed in the wool as you may think.
Maybe they should’ve let the third-string quarterback played at Virginia Tech. But they didn’t. Instead, they got teeth kicked down their throat by a team that finished 3-5 in the ACC. AT HOME. Sorry, but that disqualifies them from any serious discussion. Maybe Ohio State can go play Marshall or Northern Illinois.
