two-year-old Gabrielle Looney was bitten on the face by her mothers boyfriends pit bull. The couple took the injured little girl to the hospital, where her mother did the unthinkable. She lied to doctors and police about what happened to protect the dog.
She tried to say that this injury to her child occurred from a stray, Des Moines Police Sergeant Jim Butler to WHO-TV. And thats not something that sits too well for me. First and foremost we all love our pets but we have to take care of our children first before the family pet.
The dog, a two-year-old named Bowser, was seized by the city. It does not appear to be licensed or vaccinated.
I will more than likely deem the dog dangerous vs. vicious or high risk because the dog according to the code did bite once at or above the shoulders of a human being, Sgt. Butler says.
...
Because the mother lied to police they say she could face charges for filing a false report and interference with official acts.

Her surname is correct for sure.
Ah, the “boyfriend.” These women will do anything to protect some loser who is not even the child’s father, does nothing to help them or the child, and is generally the first one to look for in child molestation cases.
No doubt her boyfriend had some influence. If she had an ounce of sense, she would get rid of him, too.
File endangerment of a child charges and filing a false police report on the mother against the mother and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against the boyfriend which they’ll reduce down because it’s not intentional but at least it will give them a good scare...
I despise women who put their “boyfriend” above their children.
I love animals, but you can be sure that if my child ever were seriously injured by one, I’d put a bullet in it myself.
Maybe she, like many crazy people today, actually sees the animal as her child. So in order to protect one child from the consequences of harming another child, she lies. Or else her boyfriend is paying her bills and she doesn’t want the cashflow to decrease.
Reminds me of the women who pick their BF’s over their children in abuse cases.
Also makes me ashamed to be a Looney! No, makes me ashamed they are Looney’s.
Nothing wrong with the name, but that woman is a Loony!
There is no excuse for not putting the safety of your child first. This woman was likely either afraid of upsetting her mother (and perhaps losing “free” babysitting services) or she and the mother both could be afraid of the boyfriend. More unthinkable—she could have been more concerned about the welfare of the dog than her own child.
That went out the window in the 60’s with Roe V Wade and this is where it leads
The “boyfriend” is never the one paying the bills. Usually, he’s living off of the “girlfriend’s” benefits check.
That’s not always true—just mostly.
Ah yes a pit bull... The preferred dog of the criminal class.
How many innocent people need to be savagely mauled by these *cough* loving family pets before the public wakes up and demands that this breed be made extinct? As far as I’m concerned, a good pit bull is a dead pit bull.
