STAR OF THE EAST
(Amanda Kennedy, 1918)
Star of the East, oh Bethlehem’s star,
Guiding us on to heaven afar.
Sorrow and grief are lulled by thy light.
Thou hope of each mortal, in death’s lonely night
Fearless and tranquil, we look up to Thee,
Knowing thou beam’st through eternity.
Help us to follow where Thou still dost guide
Pilgrims of earth so wise.
Oh star that leads to God above.
Whose rays are peace, and joy, and love.
Watch o’er us still till life hath ceased.
Beam on, bright star, sweet Bethlehems star.
Star of the East, thou hope of the soul.
While round us here the dark billows roll.
Lead us from sin to glory afar,
Oh, star of the East, thou sweet Bethlehem’s star.
“Carol of the Bells”, “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day,” and “Good King Wenceslas.”
My favorite Christmas songs/carols/hymns are not heard or sung until Christmas. And then they're heard and sung a lot during the twelve days of the Christmas season.
I believe in letting Advent be Advent. And Advent doesn't even start until Sunday.
Santa Claus has got the Aids this Year by Tiny Tim
O Holy Night
I consider this to be one of the greatest Christmas songs of all time. The lyrics were written by the famous poet Henry W. Longfellow in 1864. They should be sung to the tune “Waltham,” written by John B. Calkin in 1872, which is far superior to any other tune used for these lyrics.
I HEARD THE BELLS ON CHRISTMAS DAY
I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
And thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along thunbroken song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
Till ringing, singing on its way
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime, a chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
Then from each black, accursed mouth
The cannon thundered in the South,
And with the sound the carols drowned
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
It was as if an earthquake rent
The hearth-stones of a continent,
And made forlorn the households born
Of peace on earth, goodwill to men.
And in despair I bowed my head
“There is no peace on earth,” I said,
“For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.”
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
“God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail
With peace on earth, good will to men.”

Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you.Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm the storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby, you kissed the face of God.Mary did you know (x8)
The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb.Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding is the great I am

Peace on Earth, can it be?
(A newborn King to see, pa-ram-pam-pam-pam)
Years from now, perhaps we'll see(Our finest gifts we bring, pa-ram-pam-pam-pam)
See the day of glory
(See the fine King, pa-ram-pam-pam-pam, ra-pam-pam-pam)
See the day when men of good will
(Ra-pam-pam-pam)
Live in peace, live in peace again(So newborn king, pa-ram-pam-pam-pam)
Peace on Earth
Can it be?
(Can we come?)Every child must be made aware
Every child must be made to care
Care enough for his fellow man
To give all the love that he can(Little baby, pa-ram-pam-pam-pam)
I pray my wish will come true
(I see the child, pa-ram-pam-pam-pam)
For my child and your child too(I'll take my trumpet, pa-ram-pam-pam-pam)
He'll see the day of glory
(I'll play my best for Him, pa-ram-pam-pam-pam, ra-pam-pam-pam)
See the day when men of good will
(Ra-pam-pam-pam)
Live in peace, live in peace again(And he smiled at me, pa-ram-pam-pam-pam)
Peace on Earth
