John Cleese has argued that political correctness is 'condescending' as it only allows jokes to be made about certain groups while implying others need to be protected.
Speaking to Bill Maher on HBO, the legendary comedian said he used to make race jokes about nationalities such as the French and Australians - but if he mentioned Mexicans it was deemed unacceptable.
Make jokes about Swedes and Germans and French and English and Canadians and Americans, why can't we make jokes about Mexicans? Is it because they are so feeble that they can't look after themselves?
The British comedian then goes on to say suggest that the reason you can't make jokes about Muslims is because 'they'll kill you'.
'Who are the people you can't make jokes about?' he asks Maher who instantly responds: 'Muslims
'Try that,' he adds. 'See what your Twitter feed says.'
A laughing Cleese responds: 'That's not saying that you can't, it just means that they'll kill you. Theoretically you could.'
The comedian added: 'The problem is if you make jokes about people who are going to kill you, there is a sort of tendency to hold back a little isn't there?' Clease, 75, described writing his memoir 'So, Anyway' as 'the most fun I have had in 10 years' +4

Speaking on Real Time with Bill Maher, Cleese went on to say that he finds any type of fundamentalism 'terribly funny'.
He said: 'Because the thing about fundamentalism is that it's taking whatever the book is - the book Qur'an or the bible - absolutely literally.
'I've met some pretty smart people in life and you know not a single one of them was literal-minded.'

Or send an IRS audit your way.
‘I’ve met some pretty smart people in life and you know not a single one of them was literal-minded.’
...Guess he’s never met a mathematician.
Everyone expects the Muslim Inquisition.
Well John, you’re an incredibly witty fellow, but if you don’t take the Bible literally, at some point soon you will find out that the joke’s on you.
Never found Monty Python very funny.
Pray America is waking
Thanks for posting. I always thought Mr. Cleese and Monty Python, were very funny.
John Cleese is on my top ten list of the funniest people who have ever lived (at least since 1900 anyway). Monty Python once had a bit about the world’s deadliest joke or some such. There are SOME things you don’t joke about, apparently, if you value your life or the life of your family. Pity. Islam has much about it that needs to be ridiculed.
I really like John Cleese but I didn't watch last night because I couldn't figure out how to mute only Bill.
Who cares what these two Jackholes think anyway.
Fawlty Towers was a pleasant discovery of-late.
The literal Bible has been rewritten a couple hundred times before the Catholics got ahold of it, and they probably rewrote various portions, and what you get is the left-over portion of the 1600s that the British decided to rewrite yet again. It may not burn out one’s enthusiasm but it causes you to be a little skeptic on phrases and just what got left in, and what got left out.
Short sit-com series. May have been the greatest sit-com of all time.
Thank you for that Wonderful Thanksgiving belly laugh! :-)
Did You notice Ref Thomas Aquinas’ little halo? LOL!
Bah.
Many imams issue fatwas against those insulting Mohammed. But, realistically, how can you insult Mohammed? Call him a thief, a bandit, a murderer, a kidnapper, a rapist, a terrorist or even a pedophile and you can cite the text from their holy books to confirm it. Yet they will take offense if you do.
