I believe it is a matter of RGIII’s work ethic. I never dreamed that would be a problem for him, but apparently it is. RGIII is not willing to put in the footwork to take his play to the next level.
“No, they need to dump Snyder, hands down the worst owner in football history.”
I’m sorry but that spot has already been taken by Jerry Jones, hands down!
The NFL is a passing QB’s league. When was the last time a rushing QB won a Superbowl?
Superbowl Winning QB’s since 2000
2000—Warner
2001—Dilfer
2002—Brady
2003—Johnson
2004—Brady
2005—Brady
2006— Roethlisberger
2007—P. Manning
2008—E. Manning
2009—Roethlisberger
2010—Brees
2011—Rodgers
2012—E. Manning
2013—Flacco
2014—Wilson
Wilson is the most effective runner on that list, but he also has a “career” (three year) QB rating of nearly 100. You don’t learn to stay in the pocket you don’t win on the big stage....
On the other hand if you want a pocket passer, don't pick a guy who's instinct is to take the ball and run on every play and tell him to stand in the pocket and go through his progressions instead. It just doesn't work.
Said another way, nobody tries to tells Tom Brady or Drew Brees to run around and try to scramble for first downs on most plays. Because they know it won't work. So why do they tell people like Vick or RGIII to play like Brady or Brees and expect it to work?
I think the answer is simple: let RG III go to a coach that can really take full advantage of his quarterback skills. Can you imagine what kind of player RG III could be playing under Chip Kelly at the Philadelphia Eagles? Kelly would not only improve RG III’s ability to run as the situation demanded, but also revive the passing skills RG III clearly demonstrated during his last year at Baylor.
