Rape allegations against Cosby case of he said/she she she ... said and 15 women can’t all be lying

Full title: The rape allegations against Bill Cosby are a classic case of he said/she she she she she she she she she she she she she she, she said - and 15 women can’t all be lying

One of my favourite Twitter parody accounts is @TheTweetOfGod .

It's cheeky, irreverent, has over 1.6 million followers - and an unnerving ability to hit the proverbial nail on the head. Last night, it addressed the mounting Bill Cosby scandal with this tweet:

‘The rape allegations against Bill Cosby are a classic case of he said/she she she she she she she she she she she she she she said.’

Ain’t that the truth?

The total number of women who have claimed Cosby drugged and raped them is now 15. (The actress Janice Dickinson being the latest, yesterday.)

The ‘royal treatment’.

Does this sound like an innocent relationship to you? Because it sure doesn’t sound innocent to me.

‘I got the royal treatment.

I’d fly to wherever he was.

I was met at the baggage claim curb by his right-hand man.

Then, I’d be handed off to Bill’s bodyguard, who would take care of me until Bill was ready to see me.

I was always met by one of his men.

I was never alone.” - Barbara Bowman

from a bit earlier...

“’He flew me to Lake Tahoe to attend the John Denver Celebrity Ski Classic.

He arranged for me to see Broadway shows in New York.

He brought me to Hilton Head, {to watch him perform}

(to) South Carolina, to watch him perform

and attend a star-studded golf tournament.”

There are a lot of very damning old articles about Cosby, but they predate the internet and you can only find scans of the newsprint. But he was very obnoxious, once sucker punched Dick Martin of Laugh-in from behind at a party, over some perceived slight. He was a very nasty guy off-camera.

Cosby also screwed probably dozens of “models” at the Playboy mansion, so what?

You can’t excuse a series of druggings and rapes because some of the girls were loose.

“Cosby screwed a lot of loose women. Therefore, anybody Cosby screwed was a loose woman who had it coming to her.”

Don’t you see the breakdown in your logic?

Really, I need help? I DON’T BUY THIS STORY.

She is just so innocent? NOT

“Every time Barbara boarded a plane, at Cosby’s request, she would ‘pray and pray’ on the way to meeting him that this time it wouldn’t happen again.” - Barbara Bowman.

Law & Order actress details Bill Cosby’s attempted sexual assault of her while working on The Cosby Show - and claims he did drug at least one woman on set

I think you may misunderstand me.

I don't know if Cosby did this. My point is the culture that was live/d in is conducive to this sort of behavior. At the time and today. Both by the powerful men and the fame seeking women.

They may not be lying...completely. Hence his reason for no pursuit in court. And the desire to protect himself and his wife.

The re-run cancellation is very sad...because there are a lot of people that get residuals from those...other than him.

DUDE. Even GLORIA ALLRED didn’t believe Barbara Bowman !

Look how ridiculous she is here in this paragraph. Why was she going to see lawyers if she was not ‘going to ask for money’...

‘He laughed me out of the office.

He said I was delusional, ridiculous, making these stories up.

No one believed me.

I called Gloria Allred.

No one would listen.

They thought I was making up stuff to get money.

I never asked for or was given a penny.

That’s not the point.

But it shut me up. I didn’t need one more authority figure to tell me I was full of s***.’”

Could be there are two ways to look at this.

None of those girls were forced into involuntary service. Nobody MADE them work there.

Before you ask...I am a woman. If one works in a certain climate because the money is great...you take the good with the bad. I don’t care how young and goofy you might be...after the first couple of nights you “get it”

You cannot possibly compare day-care toddlers, who were coached with dolls to the point of false-memory-syndrome, to girls and women in their late teens and 20s.

Not a comparison, but a connection.

Janet Reno was involved with (allegedly) sexually assaulting female prisoners in the jail. Reports were that she would have them tied up in preparation for her 'conjugal visit'.

Well... since it appears that ‘aspiring actresses’ were sent to Cosby’s hotel room or house like hooker fairies from nearby hooker camps, there had to be one person fairly innocent who got hooked up into the mess by someone else.

Thank you for your post. I’m assuming that you are a lawyer (?) and while I don’t agree entirely with your sentiments or the way that you express them, it’s good to hear from someone with a legal background on this issue.

I’ve been ‘lectured’ on another thread, for insisting that we need proof of these allegations before declaring an opinion.

For decades now, men have been trying to function in a very confusing cultural/socio-political atmosphere where any woman can simply point a finger, make an accusation, and ruin a life. It doesn’t matter if there is any truth to it: the damage is done simply by the allegation, and the rush-to-judgement of the public.

I’ve seen it happen to an acquaintance, as long as twenty years ago, during a nasty divorce. The man had no defense; because, as Clarence Thomas famously said, one “can’t prove a negative”; and everything was ‘loaded’ on the side of the woman, given the squishy fashion of ‘feminism’ at the time.

I don’t know if Cosby actually perpetrated these things, or not. But I want some kind of legal process before destroying him. It really disturbs me that he’s already been “hung” in the minds of so many people - and I don’t care about ‘anecdotal evidence’.

Most people are pretty decent; and they can’t imagine themselves in a situation where, though completely innocent, someone might want to ‘bring them down’ (who knows why?) and a ‘piling-on’ take place, as we are seeing now.

I wasn’t there; I don’t know what happened. (I also wasn’t in Ferguson, MO; so I’m waiting on the Grand Jury - because I still believe that we are a nation of law, and not of men and their opinions.)

I also know that a man can be very wrong in one area of life, and his mistakes might be ballooned out of all proportion; but at the same time he may be very right in another area of life.

I believe that Cosby has alienated certain quarters in recent years; and thinking of all of these aspects together, causes me to pause, before I judge.

(And lawyers can be pretty nasty, too: one once told me that some of the bottom-feeding lawyers actually encourage sexual misconduct allegations as an advantage in divorce cases...)

A number of these women were raped, drugged, groped and assaulted.

Some got away before actual rape, some didn’t, you are defending the man.

As you read the cases of the ones who got away, does it make you wonder how much he has done during his life that we don’t know about?

The man is a serial rapist and it is starting to look like the numbers of the unknown could be vast.

I don’t know what happened. Perhaps you think you do.

I hope I’m never on a jury with you. :)

As well you should be, this a discussion forum, and you yourself are offering your opinion without "proof" and in fact are arguing in the face of a heck of a lot of evidence.

You guys must be great defenders of Bill Clinton on his rape accusation.

So Beth Ferrier was either a six month affair... or a multi year on-again/off-again relationship...

It is unclear from this account if her ‘rape claim’ is at the end of the first break up, or at the end of several of the other break ups..

And if she saw him as ‘a father figure’ as she says later, why was she having an affair with him? That is really weird.

“Ferrier met Cosby in 1984 while she was working as a young model in New York, according to Philadelphia Magazine. She was another unnamed witness in the Constand lawsuit.

She came forward with her story in the Philadelphia Daily News in 2005 after the suit was filed but before it was settled.

Her relationship with Cosby started as a consensual affair, she told the Daily News. She said in 2005 the affair lasted about six months, but she told People magazine in 2006 that it was an on-and-off affair that lasted several years. Ferrier claimed that at one point after they decided to end the affair, Cosby drugged and assaulted her when she went to see him perform in Denver.”

There you are defending, but defending what?

Do you think all these near misses that didn’t get raped, like the Law and Order actress and Lou Ferigno’s wife and others are all lying as well?
