You just KNOW their "solution" for the loss of jobs in Seattle would be to expand their losing strategy so that job creators have no way to escape by moving out of the city.
You know how the libs will answer that? They’ll say,” raise minimum wage everywhere so businesses can’t leave”.
Can we hope, if only a little, that this might cause very blue Seattle to vote differently in 2016? I know, no way.
Seattle Is Doing What No Other City in America Has Done
Highlights include:
The City Council has doubled down on its trend-setting $15 wage by accelerating its implementation for city workers, ensuring the wage will be raised in 2015 rather than being phased in over the course of the next three years.
So I guess this would preclude any type of lessons being learned by the libturds?
U-Haul dealers rub hands.
I don’t support the new law, but it hasn’t even gone into effect yet, and the $15-an-hour rate doesn’t kick in for about five years, and the mandatory wage varies depending on the size of the business and the age of the employee. It’s way too soon to evaluate the effect of the law, despite the handful of businesses that are taking proactive action. One unintended consequence may be that businesses hire only young people who aren’t subject to the full brunt of the law, then let them go when they turn 21.
When Sawant refers to “No unintended consequences”, that is Socialist speak meaning”
“The owner must accept a smaller profit and income margins and distribute their unjust wage to the workers.”
How did you get that quote from that web site? It appears to have disabled copying and pasting.
Watch all the Starbucks close. Nice job Marxists.

“Liberals have to learn the hard way.”
Wish that were true. Seems to me that no matter how many times a liberal idea or whatever fails to work, they immediately claim they’ve learned their lesson and promptly repeat the same thing in the same way which failed before.
Here’s a few day old report directly from the horse’s mouth (none of this makes sense):
“The $15 minimum wage is a good thing because too many people are trapped in minimum wage jobs for years and are desperate. Its only fair to help them get out of poverty.” (These poor people are evidently unable to find or qualify for some other higher paying job).
This, from a liberal female who has been unemployed for a year, lives in subsidized housing, collects L&I (or WorkComp), plans to “milk the system” and find grants to go back to school. (This will be at least the fourth or fifth attempt - all previous attempts failed for one excuse or another).
When it was pointed out that many low income inner city types don’t care about raising the minimum wage, as there are no jobs available, she responded with a sharp edge to her voice, “There are plenty of jobs.”
Now for all you FRers who would attempt to interject reason and common sense, realize that such an attempt would elicit a blistering personal attack. Seems to me that they do this because the whole of the liberal mind set is an emotional and personal. To question is to be attacked, so they respond in kind.
As someone here said, “It is impossible to reason with a committed liberal.” Unless of course, one likes screaming matches and needs to get a high on adrenaline ...
Perhaps liberals do, but the Seattle city council is made up on die hard communists. They will NEVER learn.
Government does not have the right to dictate a minimum or maximum hourly pay rate. Any law that so orders is invalid.
It’s O.K., next they’ll impose a tax on businesses that go out of business. LibLogic all the way!
Socialism is great until you run out of other people’s money.
They won’t learn.
They NEVER connect the policies that made them feel good about themselves for supporting
with the obvious (to us) consequences thereof.
$15? So, fire half of your workers, keep the best half, pay them $15/hr and work them twice as hard.
But, what of the half that got fired? Welfare! That’s the end game. More and more leeches.
The article doesn’t really add much to this discussion.
The law doesn’t start until April 2015.
And, it phases in over 3 years.
And, there are all kinds of exemptions, like a special low wage for teenagers, and special rules for small businesses.
Our state minimum wage will be $9.47 on 01 January 2015.
Seattle will go to $11.00 on 01 April 2015, and $15.00 on 01 January 2017.
Personally, I support any increase in the minimum wage.
It is financial shock therapy for our deranged LEGAL immigration policies.
Since the Reagan Amnesty in 1986, America has deliberately and LEGALLY imported 20 million low skill, low education foreign workers.
Many people at Free Republic avidly support that LEGAL policy.
Unfortunately, that policy has crushed the wage scale for ALL low skill workers in America.
