McDonald's Says No to Simplot's GMO Potato
NBC News ^ | November 15, 2014 | The Associated Press

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved Idaho-based J.R. Simplot Co.'s new genetically modified potato. But one of the company's oldest business partners — McDonald's — hasn't.

The fast-food giant says it doesn't use genetically modified potatoes, the Idaho Statesman reported. "McDonald's USA does not source GMO potatoes, nor do we have current plans to change our sourcing practices," the company said in a statement.

I agree! The big food industry and fast food industry needs to tell us (label) what they sell us, where it comes from, and then let us as customers decide if we want to buy it. It’s called a free and educated market.

However, they do not want the customers to know exactly what they sell us.

My father in law worked for Simplot in Caldwell Idaho. I’m not making judgement on whether GMO or imported from Mexico is good or bad. But we customers want and have a right to know. The big food companies oddly think we don’t.

But it’s ok to use pink slime and call it meat.

Did you “want to know” a few hundred years ago when Maize was made into modern Corn?

Simple question: Why are these businesses so opposed to labeling their products? They spend all kinds of money opposing ballot referendums in states such as California and, this year, Oregon.

So it wouldn't cost them directly to do so, yet they spend so much money to lobby and oppose against mandatory GMO labeling. Put two and two together, and it's not hard to figure out that they think telling their own customers the truth will cost them business. It's pretty crappy that they obviously feel compelled to lie-by-hiding-information to keep people buying.

GMO potatoes may make economic sense, but too many consumers are uncomfortable with the possible side effects to incorporate them now. I can see the screaming picketers already, No GMO!! Arrest me now!

The aliens are causing the chemtrails, but luckily we are using HAARP to keep them at bay.

Just about every food we modern humans eat today has been genetically modified from what our hunter/gatherer ancestors ate many millenniums ago. From the corn and wheat to the cows and pigs (and yum – bacon) it’s all GMO. And thank goodness for that!

And most people who are against GMO’s don’t even know what it means or can’t rationally articulate why they are against them.
