Forget about polar vortex as an excuse for how global warming is causing extreme cold weather. A brave new word seems to have replaced it: "bombogenesis."
The most enthusiastic promoter of bombogenesis in the mainstream media is non climate expert, physicist Michio Kaku. Although Kaku previously used the polar vortex excuse frequently, he has now enthusiastically embraced "bombogenesis" as you can see in his CBS This Morning report below which he delivers in such apocalyptic terms that he claims the weather will be so extreme later this week that the temperature drop will last most of the rest of this month:

Michio speak Kaka.
"Snow in the same sector. Fantastic! All the varieties of land and weather known to Earth within a few hours walk!"
"Up yer shaft, Michio."
As a matter of fact just a few days ago, it suddenly started getting darker much, much earlier -- it seemed like an hour earlier, at least.
I bet this physicist, Rebop Kwaku Baah's theory can explain it...
They've always explained it to us by the position of the jet stream. This cold pushes it south.
The other clue to the cold is...."IT'S WINTER"!!!!
I remember that period. Froze my backside off. I wore 3-4 layers of everything — hats, gloves, sweaters, pants, socks, you name it. I thought if I fell down, I’d be like Charlie Brown from the Peanuts comic strip. I wouldn’t be able to get back up because I had so many clothes on. :)
But I remember that long about 1980 we had a couple of relatively mild winters. I remember riding down the street with my then boyfriend in the middle of January With the windows open.
Weather goes in cycles. So we had a bad winter last year and this year most likely will be cold too. Before long the cycle will change again and we may get a mild winter or two. It’s not a new phenomenon. It’s always been that way. The climate wusses should just get over it.
The gradual Darkening of the earth is a direct result of anthropogenic Global warming.
The Mother Goddess Gaia(Pieces be upon her) is so depressed by the rising temperatures in the oceans that she is sleeping more and causing the darkness.
Nevertheless, her children, the Hugh-Manatees, are freezing to death in the warming water, and are seeking the outfall pipes of nuclear power plants in the Florida waters in order to survive!
Thank Gaia(PBUH) For Nukes!
LOL...who is that?
This has turned out to be a very fun thread! :-)
"Let There be Light."
The planet on which the story takes places has periods of long, mild years, with virtually no cold seasons except in the far North, but periodically long crippling winters occur. The House Stark and their vassals live in the North, and their motto is "Winter is Coming."
It's like a medieval version of the Boy Scout motto.
Oh...Game of Thrones. I don’t get HBO but I know about it.
Thanks for clearing that up for me! :-)
Isn’t it interesting that both Tolkien and martin have “R.R.” in the middle of their names?
Just Sayin’.
It makes me nostalgic for America’s OWN “R.R.” (sigh)
I used to hear Kaku on the radio. Fortunately, he’s gone.
He’s supposed to be the smartest man in North America, or something.
I never heard him say anything intelligent.
I DO know who that is!
LOL
I remember those years! 1976 began with a massive cold front and killer wind on Thanksgiving day!
1977 had a bad blizzard come in and that year was the only one I can remember in which the continental USA had 30 days of cloud cover. I caught pneumonia in that one.
1978 again more massive cold storms and fighting frozen pipes. Ran out of firewood, was not hooked up for gas. Wind chill was -30. I thought Spring would never come! Electric bills were a paycheck killer!
They just have a GOD complex, they can’t control the weather so they try to control the people.
