No man is an island: British DIY Robinson Crusoe builds his own floating paradise off the coast of Mexico out of 150,000 recycled bottles and finds a former model to share it with
He spent the past seven years carefully constructing a floating eco-paradise - complete with a hot tub and Internet connection - out of 150,000 recycled bottles.
But Richart Sowa, 61, started to feel the only thing missing from his idyllic life on Joyxee Island near Cancun, Mexico, was someone to share it with.
The artist, originally from Middleborough, Yorkshire, met former model Jodi Bowlin, 47, from Tennessee, on Facebook last year and invited her to come and live with him on the Island.

I remember seeing a canoe made out of bottles
How well would it hold up in a big storm?
Got storms?
Looks like it is in the lagoon not on the ocean so.....
Barking mad but fun.
Please tell me that you, too, like Waterworld! I thought that movie was so much fun.
Can’t believe it was panned as badly as it was!
Dennis Hopper made that movie work.

Dancing With Dolphins was a Global Warming movie...........................
Pretty cool, but how is it going to do in the next tropical storm or hurricane?
man...I’d do this with her in a heartbeat..so looks pretty darn nice to me.... but I’m easily fooled by attractive packaging.
re-composted hovel...a high wind might launch the damn thing!
Dennis Hopper makes most movies he in........ WORK!..
the most under rated actor... in Hollyweird..
I just enjoyed the story. I don’t spend my life looking for reasons to be offended when it comes to entertainment.

The lagoon/bay is where the ocean goes during a storm.
It looks like a pile of trash on it’s way to the shore.
Glad he had fun building it.
It will be great til the next Hurricane. :-)
My house is not this ramshackle Swiss Family Robinson shack that he has, but a purpose built home that is siting on top of plastic encapsulated styrofoam floats. It has all the modern amenities you would expect in any recently built house. The only thing he's got going over me is the weather, as I'm in eastern Tennessee and he's much further south.
