Summary
Apple Pay by Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) may have received a huge boost in public perception over the last couple days. One of the largest competitors to Apple Pay is MCX, short for Merchant Customer Exchange. MCX announced on Wednesday that its e-mail system was hacked and the information of testers was compromised. In an attempt to make that information seem less threatening, management clarified that the information was simply e-mail addresses and dummy zip codes.

Aren't Iphone users the kind of upscale individuals who have the savings necessary to make purchases?
If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
I refuse to use any product or service from that company.
Many of us are the kind of consumer who user credit cards such as AmericanExpress or Frequent Flyer Rewards cards and pay off the balances every month. And yes some can afford to have the amount withdrawn as a ACH withdrawal. BUT, ACH payments have only a 48 hour window to challenge the charge as fraudulent before it is permanently your responsibility. . . even if you don't know about it! Sorry, no. Not going to accept that risk. My business had that happen last year.
Bet you use Microsoft products whose profits in part go to fund gun control efforts (at least $1,000,000 donation from Michael Gates and Steve Balmer to the Yes on 594 and 591 [?] campaigns in Washington State to make it a felony to lend a gun to a friend without a background check or even let them shoot your gun at the range!), billions to funding abortions around the world through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and primary support for Common Core. None of which will you find supported by Apple Inc. donations. Microsoft, Google, Facebook, and Intel all made greater dollar amount political contributions than has Apple. So, what's your beef?
Ahem. Pretty presumptuous of you to think I use any products or services from the leftist Microsoft outfit. I have never used any of their products or services, from DOS to the 16-bit hacks of early Windows to their current platforms.
What made you conclude that I'd taint any computer of mine with that garbage? Their software is subpar and their corporate philosophy and contributions are, to me, repulsive in every way.
In short, you certainly have lost that bet.
It took you two days to put that out there to cover for Apple?
At least collect a check for it. How pathetic.
Well, there weren't too many viable options going back to 1982, so inquiring minds want to know; if you didn't use Microsoft or Apple. . . and LINUX was only started in 1991 and really wasn't viable for years. . . what did you use? Commodore Amiga? Atari St series? Timex? UNIX? On a home computer? What?
What are you talking about, Koik? What "two days?" And what "cover for Apple" is there in setting the truth out there. . . Checkable truth?
And you've been repeatedly told I dont work for Apple, please desist with the innuendo that I do.
Nothing. I had no need for any form computing back then. And, for me, Linux -- the same OS that Jim and John Robinson chose for Free Republic -- has been viable since it first came out in 1991. I used the Texas A&M distribution and to this day, it serves as the basis of what I use today since I build everything myself, the hardware, the kernel and userland.
I wish not to antagonize you but I found it pretty presumptuous that your initial reaction was to conclude that not using Apple implies an affinity for Microsoft. And yes, there are likely sodomites upstream in the Linux world as well as the downright bizarre (see Richard Stallman). The difference is that unlike Gates, Ballmer and Cook, not a penny flows from my pocket to support their agendas. Granted, I did pay postage to get the Linux floppies from Texas A&M more than 20 years ago. As far as I can recall, that's been my sole outlay for that platform.
You are refusing to buy products from the company that makes the very best in every category they are involved with so you can instead give your business to companies that sell you cheaply made junk. But, it is a free county.
What he posted was all accurate. You have a problem with the truth?
Do you wish to inform Jim and John Robinson that the system powering Free Republic is "cheaply made junk"?
I oppose sodomy in all forms, especially one headed by a CEO who blasphemes that being a sexual deviant is "among the greatest gifts God has given me." Disgusting. Is that the company you willingly choose to support with your hard-earned money?
Well? You’re now awfully quiet aren’t you?
Yes. It is cheaply made junk, by comparison.
As for the homosexual thing, they are everywhere these days. Not just Apple. Including at the company that makes your cheap junk.
Gotcha. So my SPARC server is “cheap junk” in your expert evaluation. Okaaaaay.
Very simple to defeat Apple Pay and do it without stealing an iphone. And it just so happens that Apple Pay’s token scheme can actually aid hackers and thieves,
Purchase an Apple iphone anonymously. And it’s easy to defeat fingerprint access (Touch ID) which has been known for years and years and is easily done by any hacker with minimal education.
Setup an Apple Pay account (add card to itunes, then to Passbook & Apple Pay; https://www.apple.com/apple-pay) using someone else’s personal information. In fact, setup multiple such accounts using multiple persons.
Use the Apple Pay accounts to purchase items that are fungible for cash.
Destroy the iphone after a period of time of about a day or two. Apple’s token scheme protects the thief from immediate detection because everything looks legit until the victim notices something’s gone wrong. Could be a few days or more.
Purchase a new iphone.
Rinse and repeat.
***************************
But don’t worry. Your fascist hero who is proud of choosing his homosexual lifestyle will make the trains run on time by dictating how everyone should transact. It’s the only way to save his precious Apple Pay. Sieg Heil!
You see this Apple Pay shit is a shoehorn fit to an intractable problem and your hero thinks he is filling the shoes of Jobs with this subgrade security scheme.
If you really want Apple to have impenetrable security you’d have to lead them into a compartment whose classification level is itself classified, but then you and they would disappear forever without a trace.
So have fun in the meantime.
Apple’s got 5 to 8 years of life unless there be a Jobs second coming.
Apple pay is a farce for all the reasons you mention. Just more softening up of the sheeple who are headed to (figurative) slaughter
