ROCKFORD, Mich. (AP) - A western Michigan couple with 12 sons is expecting baby No. 13, and even though they're sticking to their tradition of not finding out in advance whether they're having a boy or girl, they said they'd be shocked if their streak is broken.
Jay and Kateri Schwandt's baby is due May 9, The Grand Rapids Press reported (http://bit.ly/1wLt00x ). Even though they expect it will be another boy, the couple said they would welcome either into the family.
"If we were to have a girl, I think we would go into shock," Kateri Schwandt said. "It would probably be disbelief."
If he had a choice, Jay Schwandt said he would love to have a girl, but they're just "hoping for a healthy baby." Still, he would like to see the effect of adding a girl to the mix in a household with 12 boys.

Stay classy.
It’s a little more complicated than flipping a coin.
I’d go with the odds.
My Mom has 5 sisters, 2 brothers..One brother 3rd to last & my other uncle the baby of family.
They grew up in a 2 bedroom house, 1 bathroom.
The dining room was turned into a bedroom at night.
I don’t know how they did it!
How much is this costing me?
I know people who go to their church and have commented on what a loving family they are.
Nothing! They aren’t on any kind of aid.
One of my best friends has 14 now, no twins, only two of which are girls.
Her oldest (a son) is now married, and his first with his wife was a girl.
Wonderful family.
A friend has 15.
That is awesome! What a blessing!
As a kid my best friend was Milo Calusi in Walled Lake Michigan.
He was the youngest of 11 kids in his family.
He was the youngest and the only boy
Sure wish i could find him again.
That is soooooo true.
Yeah the household would at all times contain $13,000 in different shampoos conditioners, body wash, and soap alone. Imagine having to pay for 13 weddings? Oy vey!
Had a friend who had seven daughters. Their eighth was a son and they felt they had to continue a bit so the girls wouldn’t feel as if the mattered less. Had seven daughters and three sons when they finally gave it up.
To my feeble mind, I don’t think that you can properly parent 13 children. I grew up in a family of six kids and it was hard enough.
Probably nothing.
They’re a Christian family and they live by the command that the man is supposed to take care of his own family.
Now, if it was a democrat family, you’d expect probably 4 kids, no father, and all being supported by you.
If it’s a boy, he’ll have 12 older brothers ahead of him for they inheritance,
so he’ll likely travel to a northern land,
seduce the younger sister of the orphaned queen to marry him,
plot to kill them both,
and end up having his scheme foiled in the end by an act of heroism by an animated snowman named Olaf.
But that’s just guessing.
LOL! Good one.
In what way does that personal opinion, unrelated to the situation of any other family, justify a filthy insult to a mother?
When I met her, she was a young-looking mother holding a newborn and otherwise unaccompanied as she visited our church for the first time. “Is this your first child?” my wife asked. “No, she’s my 13th.”
