While Michelle Obamas skimpy school lunch mandates have been widely rejected by students and schools, the elite private school attended by both Obama daughters will be serving chicken wings and potato chips on Wednesday.
Sidwell Friends is the elite private school with a $36,264 tuition per child where President Obama sent his daughtersinstead of Cardozo high school, a government-run school in Washington, D.C.
After Wednesdays chicken wings , on Thursday Obamas daughters can get a Cuban sandwich. Pasco County Schools in Florida had to eliminate Cuban sandwiches because they violated Michelle Obamas lunch standards.
Land O Lakes High had gone one better, pressing its own Cuban sandwiches that definitely exceed the calorie limits, she said.
No way can we fit Cubans on the menu any more, Hedine said.
Next week, students at Sidwell Friends can enjoy Philly Cheese Steaks ; and they will have meatball submarines the following week. Veterans Day is not a holiday at Sidwell Friends, and beef nachos are on the menu. Nachos, wings, chips and cheesesteaks lunch fare most American kids can only dream about now.
They couldn’t afford 1/3 of it.
Michelle tells her own daughters “Nobody cares what you have for lunch”
If it’s fresh tuna and cooked rare, then fine.
If it’s canned, I’ll only eat it straight out of the can or mixed with celery, onions and dill pickles or relish, on literally whole wheat bread.
Can’t stand white bread or fake whole wheat.
My bread needs to be dense and then, so I can 75% of the calories, I’ll sometimes cut the edges off, justifying another drink.
I’m into portugese rolls...and soleil bread.
Cardozo High School in Washington, DC — sh—t on a shingle times 5 and a glass of tepid water.
They now have tuna in little glass jars that aren't bad.
In elementary school I washed trays and silverware to earn my lunch.
Who needs the force of law? They have the force of force.
“schools are run by states and counties”
My,my, what a quaint idea.
Oohhhh, man!
Haven’t had those in years.
I served lunches to the little rich kids at a school near my “poor” school. They had Sidwell lunches!! This was c1957.
The progressives started their march many moons ago.
