A nurse who tested negative for the Ebola virus but remained under a 21-day quarantine in a Newark hospital on Saturday is angry and frustrated with how she was treated when she returned to the United States from West Africa.

She knew why. It was explained to her. When it comes to a highly infectious and deadly virus, yes you loose your right to travel freely. TB patients are placed under arrest if they violate quarantine orders. Nothing different here. In simple terms, your rights end at the tip of my nose.
Really? She’s angry? Anyone who had contact with her and lived in fear of contracting the disease should sue her.
“the quarantine makes sense”
Yes but imagine what the “ward” will be like in a few weeks after it as filled up with dozens or hundreds of third worlders
The story indicates they didn’t tell her.
There was indeed cause, but was she treated with due respect and was the situation clearly explained to her? Having been through a few airports and watched airport security, I have to wonder.
If I was in her situation.. there would be zero percent chance i would not isolate myself from everyone... That she is whining that the customs officers are too smug is annoying beyond words... boo-hoo.. How many people have died from the hundreds of infected hcw’s spreading the virus to other people?
Yes, he was treated at Princess Liliuokalani’s NEW hospital in Honolulu, which she founded upon seeing the situation on Molokai, but when he originally went to Molokai, he was told he would not be allowed back. That is the point I was making.
He DID die in Molokai.
Yes Indeed.
Back in the days before Airplanes, a missionary would often go to parts unknown, not knowing if he or she would ever return. This is the point I was trying to make. You got it, but not everybody did.
You seriously believe that she didn’t know why she was being detained or that they didn’t tell her?
And you believe everything you read?
Maybe yes or maybe no. But we’ve all been in airports enough to know that courtesy and caring are marginal, not to be expected.
Me too. Arrogant and robotic bound by inconsiderateness.
well the lady at Starbucks was smug and arrogant to me when I ordered a regular coffee.. but I am not writing a letter to the newspaper about it..
Yes, I did the mule ride down the mountain!!! You cannot be thinking of riding horses while doing so!!! Horses slip, trip, and stumble going down steep declines of slippery wet rock. And on one side is a steep cliff.
But the mules do not slip, at all. Wild.
I hope you get to cross that one off your list.
You’re normal.
I have read online that you have to just TRUST the mule and let it go. It KNOWS the way and what to do.
People who ride horses get a little upset because they want to control the animal!
Thank you for sharing your experience with me!
