King Lear, strippers, and show horses: Inside the $500 million lawsuit that could bring down Gaston Glocks gun empire.
Guns, money, sex, and betrayal: Rarely do the news gods smile down on us with such charity. But Helga Glock, ex-wife to Gaston Glock Sr., the gun industrys most successful and secretive tycoon, has given us all that and then some with a new lawsuit filed in an Atlanta federal court earlier this week.
In the complaintfiled in Georgia, where the Austrian companys U.S. headquarters is based and most of its business conductedMrs. Glocks attorney accuses the 85-year-old gun manufacturer of a racketeering scheme that spanned decades and the globe, all in an elaborate plan to steal the business that Mrs. Glock and the rest of their family had helped to build from a mom-and-pop machine shop into a company with $400 million in sales each year. An enterprise so successfulit supplies U.S. police with two-thirds of their firearms and dominates the civilian marketthat Mr. Glocks criminal dealings have cheated her out of around $500 million, the suit claims, making the case one of the largest civil suits ever under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act.

Yeah the gun shop owners I know show you a Glock and then hand you some rounds to play around with.

I was going for Clinton WH intern.
Yup...I numerous know people that have put tens of thousands of rounds through Glocks and the only time they have ever gone “bang” is when you put your finger in the trigger guard and squeeze.
Just like a revolver.

Yep. There is no substitute for a safety and decocker. I love to shoot Glocks, would not own one.
THE FOLLOWING IS THE SOLUTION TO MISFIRES FROM THE PLASTIC BRICK ALSO KNOW AS “THE GLOCK”
“THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JOHN (MOSES BROWNING)”
1 In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was THE pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, “Thou shalt not muck with my disciple John’s design for it is good and it workith. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons, from the designs which I, the Lord, gave him upon the mountain.”
2 “And shouldst thou muck with it, and hang all manner of foul implements upon it, and profane its internal parts, thou shalt surely have malfunctions, and in the midst of battle thou shalt surely come to harm.”
3 And as the ages passed men in their ignorance and arrogance didst forget the word of the Lord and began to profane the 1911. The tribe of the gamesman did place recoil spring guides and extended slide releases upon the 1911 and their metal smiths didst tighten the tolerances and alter parts to their liking, their clearness of mind being clouded by lust.
4 Their artisans did hang all manner of foul implements upon the 1911 and did so alter it that it became impractical to purchase. For lo, the artisans didst charge a great tax upon the purchasers of the 1911 so that the lowly field worker could not afford one. And the profaning of the internal parts didst render it unworkable when the dust of the land fell upon it, and these profaners didst try and fit more rounds of ammunition into the magazines than the holy number of seven, appointed for the .45.
5 And lo, they didst install adjustable sights, which are an abomination unto the Lord. For they doth break and lose their zero when thou dost need true aim. And those who have done so will be slain in great numbers by their enemies in the great battle.
6 And it came to pass that the Lord didst see the abomination wrought by man and didst cause, as he had warned, fearful malfunctions to come upon the abominations and upon the artisans who thought they could do no wrong.
7 Seeing the malfunctions and the confusion of men, the lord of the underworld did see an opportunity to further ensnare man and didst bring forth pistols made of plastic, whose form was such that they looked and felt like a brick, yet the eyes of man being clouded, they were consumed by the plastic pistol and did buy vast quantities of them.
8 And being a deceitful spirit, the lord of the underworld did make these plastic pistols unamenable to the artisans of earth and they were unable to muck much with the design, and lo these pistols did appear to function.
9 And the evil one also brought forth pistols in which the trigger didst both cock and fire them and which require a “dingus” to make them appear safe.
10 But man being stupid did not understand these new pistols and didst proceed to shoot themselves with the plastic pistol and with the trigger cocking pistols for lo their manual of arms required great intelligence which man had long since forsaken. Yet man continue to gloat over these new pistols blaming evil forces for the negligent discharges which they themselves had committed.
11 And when man had been totally ensnared with the plastic pistol, the lord of the underworld didst cause a plague of the terrible Ka-Boom to descend upon man and the plastic pistols delivered their retribution upon men. And there was a great wailing and gnashing of teeth in the land.
12 Then seeing that the eyes of man were slowly being opened and that man was truly sorrowful for his sinful misdeeds, the Lord did send his messengers in the form of artisans who did hear and obey the teachings of the prophet and who didst restore the profaned 1911s to their proper configuration, and lo, to the amazement of men they didst begin to work as the prophet had intended.
13 And the men of the land didst drive out the charlatans and profaners from the land, and there was joy and peace in the land, except for the evil sprits which tried occasionally to prey on the men and women of the land and who were sent to the place of eternal damnation by the followers of John.
I am a degreed gunsmith who has extensive experience with the Glock. Its design is actually quite inherently safe as long as people keep their finger off the trigger or the trigger is not actuated by some object while stored or being holstered. There are a few parts failures that could theoretically cause unintended discharges, but redundancies built into the Glock make them nearly impossible. The holes in gunshop floors are invariably caused by fingers not failures of mechanical parts. There is a .223 caliber ding in the wood of my gunshop floor caused by a trusted friend who brainfarted for one second. He is a combat veteran Marine, and no slouch behind a firearm. He was following the other rules and all ended well and unhurt, except his pride.
All that said, I am no Glock fan, nor a fan of the elitist Gaston Glock.
LOL!
I have a lot of guns but no Glocks. I will get one but it will never be my carry piece as it has no thumb safety or grip safety.
Most revolvers do not have 5 pound triggers.
My 1911 and my Browning High Power are perfectly safe to carry with a round in the tube. I must pull the hammer back to make it fire. Both are inherently safer than the Plastic Bricks.
I bought my very first Glock last week. I guess a few bucks of what they are fighting over was mine.
I bought a Glock 20sf to use as a trail gun. One more caliber to reload, I’m really looking forward to some experimenting.
Disagree..Glocks are a no non-sense weapon designed to be dependable, and ready to fire quickly...hence, no external safety. Its people not properly handling a Glock that get into trouble. They are not a gun to “fondle’..”caress” ..and generally play around with.
Meh, glocks are garbage, from a military perspective they aren’t any good. Give me a metal gun any day of the week.
I’m approaching my 30th year with my Glock, good pistol.
Yeah, imagine that, they don't hand an unknown person a loaded firearm in the store.
A co-worker asked why I didn’t like Glocks. I joked that I didn’t want to shoot myself in the leg, like a cop. Then he mentioned that his brother was a cop. Who shot himself in the leg. With a Glock. Whoops.
Gold-plated model is his CCW.
One of them anyway.
As far as a service/carry pistol, I'll stick with CZ or Colt, not because I believe they're inherently *better* than Glock, just that they're better for me. To each his own. I'm a firm believer that the best firearm is the most reliable one you have, in the most potent caliber you can handle that you can have with you when you need it.
“They were married in 1962 and she still looks like that?? Is she a vampire or something?”
That’s his personal nurse who became wife #2.
