I think I have about six pounds of ground beast, but it takes me several days to go through one. Mostly I make hamburger patties because I have no containers to hold plain cooked hamburger. Maybe I should take one of those (or two) and make a meatlope. Actually, I would like to get a pound of sausage and make two larger loaves and slice them individually, put them in sandwich bags and freeze the lot of them. I just have to get the sausage...and the sandwich bags. I never seem to have enough of those.
And I don’t think I can eat the lettuce fast enough to keep it from going brown...
That reminds me, I need a new ziplock back for my dozens of insurance, membership, and identity cards. When I took Sally to the dermatologist this morning, I noticed the old bag was falling to pieces.
I agree. Most times, Michelle has no excuse for looking so awful. There are clothes to flatter everyone who makes an effort to find them. You don’t have to be tall, skinny, white, or anything else. You just have to have taste, or listen to someone who does.
I got a gorgeous blue ocean-pattern dress at The Salvation Army yesterday. It’s sleeveless, so I may not get a chance to wear it until next year’s warm weather, but it can stay in my closet for $2. Sally said, “I wouldn’t wear that!” and I said, “Too bad, because you would look incredible in it, a lot better than I will.” But she has no taste.
You could also wear a bolero with the dress, and gussy it up with blingy thingys.
Poor Sally. She probably has a 1940’s mind-set that precludes experimenting with color and style. She has my deepest sympathy.
Jeans and t-shirts. I was there in my teens, too. At least I picked shirts other than black, though.
We’re looking at upper 70s on Sunday. I might wear the dress to church as a last hurrah, although you never know what temperatures will be here through October.
I buy tabbed plastic pocket files at Walmart (pack of 8) and use them for bills and/or medical info in loose-leaf binders. There are also a bunch for specific papers, such as those I need once or twice a year to prove my eligibility for *kof-kof* ‘public housing.’
If I had a bigger place, I would have a file cabinet that was so organized it would make Martha Stewart blanch.
Too bad I don’t have an appropriately colored accessory to send you for your ocean dress....
As for Sally, we wore jeans, but T-shirts had not met their publicist at the time. So it was western attire, all the way.
Still, with my mother’s careful perusal, we always seemed to be color-coordinated when we left the house. “You’re NOT going out in THAT!” Not a question. A command.
My mother had standards, too, and t-shirts didn’t fit. She wouldn’t let me wear jeans to school, either, even when everyone else did.
Another generation... We were stuck with dresses, no matter what the weather. It was only after I got out of high school that jeans/pants were allowed in the colder months. We got stuck with “BC Stockings,” and I hated them. The rich kids got to wear white...my sis and I had to wear mud brown. *shudder*
I have brown leggings, but the brown dress I wore them with wore out. I hope I find something else at The Salvation Army!
Pants do have an advantage when it’s cold, and I’ve never lived anywhere as cold as Utah, Idaho, etc., not even Rhode Island!
WHen we were going to school, my dad was working in Wyoming, and he would always send flannel-lined Levis, flannel-lined Levi-jackets, and “sturdy” shoes, since we had to walk over a mile to school and back every day.
The more the jeans and jackets were washed, the higher the nap was on the flannel and the warmer the garment was. When one is nine years old, and slogging through 3’ of snow to school, one appreciates warm clothing.
There was a man who owned a draft horse (a bay, IIRC) and after the first snow, he would harness the horse (with bells!) onto a small triangular sledge. He would sit on the crude wooden seat and plow the sidewalks. I remember being so excited when I heard the bells that I would run outside to wave to him...barefooted!
I remember being cold, but not for a long time. We only lived in Rhode Island a few years ... 1968-70 and 1977-78. Deep snow, though.
I was in El Paso during 68-70.
Not a lot of snow.
And that's when it makes you-tube headlines.

Sally, James, Vlad and I are packing for our camping trip.
Oh how fun! It’s kinda cold in them thar hills... Dress warmly!
Fortunately, we’re not going to the hills. Overnight lows in the 40s are forecast, so we should be fine. We have warm sleeping bags.
