My mother had standards, too, and t-shirts didn’t fit. She wouldn’t let me wear jeans to school, either, even when everyone else did.

Another generation... We were stuck with dresses, no matter what the weather. It was only after I got out of high school that jeans/pants were allowed in the colder months. We got stuck with “BC Stockings,” and I hated them. The rich kids got to wear white...my sis and I had to wear mud brown. *shudder*
