As for Sally, we wore jeans, but T-shirts had not met their publicist at the time. So it was western attire, all the way.
Still, with my mother’s careful perusal, we always seemed to be color-coordinated when we left the house. “You’re NOT going out in THAT!” Not a question. A command.
My mother had standards, too, and t-shirts didn’t fit. She wouldn’t let me wear jeans to school, either, even when everyone else did.
