All over the internet recently, sciFy vs. reality and a Mars satellite for petty cash:
That breaks the monopoly. Faced with the spectre of other nations publishing uncensored Mars images, NASA and JPL have started publishing some much more obvious images than they have in the past including a totally uncensored video (JPL) showing large-scale structure.
A few items...

LOL!
Next time, maybe she will like me well enough to come with me...if I get her a fabric carrier. The one I brought her home in contributed to her fear because she couldn’t look out...no windows...
been a shock to the system.
Probably not unexpected but yes, a shock. And over the course of the day it was revealed that he actually died back in July. Apparently the NYC Coroner or whatever officious department it is that deals with this sort of thing was leaning on his former landlord about who to release the body to... Former landlord went through deceased B-I-L's stuff and found our phone number. After the phone call last night that verified that we were next-of-kin sorta, gave the phone number to the NYC bureaucrats who called starting at 0830 this morning...
Deceased B-I-L had no life insurance and since he died in July (as opposed to 'last month' as Mrs. NoC was told last night) it's apparently too late to get burial assistance of whatever form from Socialist Security - something about 90 days to apply or some such, and of course NYC wants a credit card number to apply costs to.
It is as you see turning into a mucked up affair, nothing unusual when the subject is deceased B-I-L... And as was previously stated - it is a long story... ;-)
The Social Security death benefit, if I recall correctly, is only two or three hundred dollars.
Of immensely more help would be his being a veteran.
By the way, too late to donate his body to Science?
Missed this last night. Very sorry about the brother-in-law.
I was thinking about names today. I don’t like “Abo,” but maybe “Abby” would work.
Which if available would contribute to whatever it will cost to get him packaged in an urn...
No he wasn't a vet, so no help there. Looks like Mrs. NoC is attempting to figure out how to get him cremated. Someone suggested a 'Go Fund Me' thingie... The family does have a burial plot back in Ohio but that doesn't help the immediate issue of NYC wanting to dispose of a corpse.
He is not the only one of Mrs. NoC's siblings that disappeared. She has an older Sister who we haven't heard from for close to 10 years. Last we heard she was moving and whatever phone number she used to have is no longer valid. We of course have the same phone number for the past 20 years so lack of contact by her Sibs is their decision...
Makes it tough when you suddenly end up needing to inform the rest that their Brother is dead and by the way, can you chip in some moneys to bury him...
Our crazy relative who didn’t talk to people for years died with lots of money. And houses. And some classic cars.
That unfortunately is not the case here... Would make it so much easier if true. ;-)
Did you ever get your mouse or keyboard or whatever it was fixed?
I hope the family can pull together sufficient resources for some sort of dignified ... er ... placement.

Beautiful kitteh for CATURDAY.
Happy weekend everyone.
Hug your kitties!
Welcome Catman.
It’s not obvious from this angle, but in the other pictures of this kitten, you could see how tiny she is.
Morning!
The road ritual is done, for now.
I can’t tell if the way her fur is illuminated makes her look like a little angel or a dandelion fluff.
Can I say both? I’m a push over for baby mammals. :)
Congratulations on surviving another. Is it cold up there?
