All over the internet recently, sciFy vs. reality and a Mars satellite for petty cash:
That breaks the monopoly. Faced with the spectre of other nations publishing uncensored Mars images, NASA and JPL have started publishing some much more obvious images than they have in the past including a totally uncensored video (JPL) showing large-scale structure.
A few items...

We had a nice dinner. Mom and I had the salmon. She has gone over to meet the overnight aide, and I came back to the apartment to feed the cat. She’ll call me if she needs backup.
We went out to lunch (Chinese) and then to her Weight Watchers meeting. She’d lost 3 lbs. Then we went to an upscale consignment store, where she bought a jacket. I heard one of the managers telling a consignor, “We’ll only take jeans if they retailed for at least $100.” This ain’t no Salvation Army store, hon. I didn’t find anything there.
Then we went to the Hospice Thrift Store, where she bought me a nice black dress with a small floral pattern and a cool beaded neckline for $18. I can wear it to church, because it has a neckline like a crew-neck t-shirt and real short sleeves, unlike my Salvation Army one that’s sleeveless and rather plunging.
Good thing I couldn’t find Pat’s little NRA satchel when I was packing, because I’m going to need the extra space in my bag. She also has a Hello Kitty sleeper and robe for Kathleen, whose Hallowe’en pajamas won’t be warm enough most of the winter.
Oh, how envious I am! Please, promise me next time I visit, that you will take me to your favorite thrift stores? Please?
Chinese food sounds good, and the next time I have any extra money, I will go to the little one down the street. It’s old and shabby, but the food is excellent! I’m anxious to try the dinner menu, because all I’ve had is the lunch.
Do you need anything striking for the new little black dress? I’ll see what I have or if I can whomp something up to set it off.
I always had my son in a “Trundle Bundle” jammie thing, as he kept wiggling out of the covers and his skin would be icy in the winter. I think he was in one until he was four. Then I couldn’t find them any more. It’s good that Kathleen will have something warm to sleep in...
When you come to visit, we can go to the famous Ballantyne Goodwill branch, where the rich people donate. Maybe even the Junior League Thrift Store uptown, although that might be like Mom’s $100 jeans place.
Consignors in this area tend to be elderly, which makes the selection in size 2/4 rather limited. And the prices ... I looked at a cute pink beaded sweater, and it was over $200!!! Zot knows what it went for at retail. Who are these people?
Asuncion will make me some black and silver or black and pearl earrings to go with the new dress, once she sees it ... if she doesn’t already have something in inventory. Having a private jewelry designer is so convenient.
I liked the bundle-up pajamas, with no legs, for babies, but they don’t seem to make them bigger than 24 month size unless you pay a fortune for “Hanna Andersen” products from Sweden. Kathleen has two sets of blanket sleepers: owls and cats. When she wears the owl pajamas she insists on the owl blanket, too. That confused Tom a few times.
Mom hasn’t come back yet; I hope the aide showed up on time. I don’t want to get my pajamas on in case she wants me to hustle over there and take notes and look imposing. She was on the phone with Wayne the Director this afternoon (he’s a sleazoid), threatening him with my notes from yesterday’s meeting. “My daughter transcribed the meeting; that was her profession!” because they wouldn’t let her make a recording.
Don’t look now, but..
It’s snowing.
I will answer this tomorrow, as Busdaddy is here. We are going to St George tomorrow afternoon or Saturday morning, to a “Test ‘n’ Tune” with Lucille.
Have a good night! *hug*
I hope it goes great. I know you love the track, so best of health for tomorrow/Sat!
Not here. Mom came back satisfied with the overnight aide, a nursing student. She went to bed, and I just called home to make sure nobody died.
But it has gotten impressively cooler. We could see snow by morning. They are calling for 32oF overnight.
Oh, nice. Anoreth will have similar weather. According to her posts on the NC board, she is drinking and watching an Orson Welles movie.
I’m going to bed soon.
By comparison, yesterday I saw several girls wearing shorts.
I notice such things.
I hear there’s a winter thing gonna happen. It’s not expected to reach us here in Central Floriduh, and probably not in Charlotte, either.
Not much shorts-wearing in these parts: everyone’s old.
The cats might deny it, but that's just how cats are.
And in Denver, everyone's cold...
(-14 degrees...)
Woof. The pilot of my plane on Wednesday morning had originated in Denver. He said it was +5 there when they took off. Orlando was his base: 80 on Wednesday afternoon.
Actually, a lot of the men are wearing shorts, but they've shrunk so much the knee-line is now at their ankles.
Possible. There are some men here shorter than I am. But it’s more that they’re bent over, being over 90.
Looks like the state line between PA and MD is the divide between solidified and liquid glowbull warmthing..
