Recent Mars Images (Marvin the Martian throws down the kaboom in a guest zot)
Posted on 10/08/2014 10:49:46 AM PDT by aardwolf46
All over the internet recently, sciFy vs. reality and a Mars satellite for petty cash:
That breaks the monopoly. Faced with the spectre of other nations publishing uncensored Mars images, NASA and JPL have started publishing some much more obvious images than they have in the past including a totally uncensored video (JPL) showing large-scale structure.
A few items...
JPL uncensored video showing large-scale structure:

Electrical device of some sort with helical coil wound around it
Device is on the left, about a third of the way down on the image
Gear of some sort.

Rats where not to blame....they told me so. :)
Sounds like a usable word, for a spot of b.s bingo in the next meeting.

Rats where not to blame..Probably not. But then, considering the recipe for tree rat upthread a bit, you never know...

it seems it is part of the lore here.Obscure words that someone once saw the need to coin are often placed back in circulation on the UT. Years ago I had placed vivisepulture in my 'at some point I'm going to need this' vocabulary and I saw the opportunity to use it early this calendar year.
Tax-chick adopted it immediately and we've been pinging it since then.
Tax-chick also made use of the term 'anthropodermic bibliopegy' in 2014. I am now awaiting the chance to use it in casual conversation. It may take a while, but I'm patient.

I vote we all try to stamp out circumlocutory sesquipedalianisms!

"Tax-chick also made use of the term 'anthropodermic bibliopegy' in 2014. I am now awaiting the chance to use it in casual conversation. It may take a while, but I'm patient." We also have people who meander through the Word For The Day, as well as our pastoral Habitats. They have been known to smuggle polysyllabicisms.
Why, I myself used the word pavonine from a recent WFTD.

Er... Huh?
Did I kill someone again and didn’t realize?
Sorry ‘bout that.

I never pictured you as a dragonslayer type.
You’d be more likely to take it home as a pet.

She should be wise enough to know that four is the perfect number. One gets lonely, two are jealous and will fight, three means two will gang up on one but with four, everyone has a friend!
Convince her with your logic, DC!

Keep in mind that context is everything. To us, Washington D.C. is a plethora of proud turkeys. And other less dignified descriptives.
A Spanish-speaking person would think you meant peacocks and wouldn't get the inference...

So it seems. Fortunately, for the actual non-decedent in company.

Of course, if you lived in Nevada, the meaning would be oh-so-clear.
