After remaining mostly silent since nude photos of her were taken from her phone and leaked online, actress Jennifer Lawrence has spoken out at length to Vanity Fair about the hack.
"It is not a scandal. It is a sex crime," Lawrence told Vanity Fair. "It is a sexual violation. Its disgusting. The law needs to be changed, and we need to change. Thats why these websites are responsible."
"Just the fact that somebody can be sexually exploited and violated, and the first thought that crosses somebodys mind is to make a profit from it. Its so beyond me. I just cant imagine being that detached from humanity. I cant imagine being that thoughtless and careless and so empty inside."
She went on: "Just because Im a public figure, just because Im an actress, does not mean that I asked for this. It does not mean that it comes with the territory. Its my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting."

She’s just mad at the casting director that leaked them.
That is not what happened. They hacked Apple's iCloud storage. They got a lot of folks at the same time.
I am guessing many of you believe if a person did not have nice things in their house, the burglar would not have broken in to steal them. Let’s continue to blame the victim. |
When you leave your doors unlocked, does it not make it easy for the burglar?
Sure, it may be wrong. But not unexpected. Actions have consequences. Especial stupid actions.
You are correct though it would seem she took the photos to share with someone. If so you can never trust the second person to keep your secret forever.
In any event yes her privacy was violated and it’s evil, There may also be some ambiguity to the situation where she has now decided to represent herself as a victim, for which she will be heartily commended because there is no shame any longer.
Oh my, am I banned from reading the tripe out of curiosity?
Let us consider how this nonsense aids this pathetic war on women meme.
Poor lil Jen, maybe taking nude pics wasn’t such a great idea after all.
“Why did you take a nude photo and post it somewhere in the first place?”
And to tell you the truth, Jennifer, In my opinion, you’re not that hot.
She calls it a “sex crime” probably because hollywierd actors expect to get paid when taking off their clothes, just like hookers.
Who was talking about a ban? I was responding to a comment about how little you claimed you carried about the topic. It seemed contradictory.
Let us consider how this nonsense aids this pathetic war on women meme.
Does that mean you see a value in discussing the topic?
Poor lil Jen, maybe taking nude pics wasnt such a great idea after all.
We agree here. But stupidity doesn't equal permission to take. Spending lots of money on overpriced jewelry kept on her dresser top instead of a safe also isn't a great idea. But it doesn't give the thief permission or lack of consequences.
Some real stupid comments on this thread. She took private pictures and had them on her phone. Her privacy was violated, along with many others. Most of the time, you people can’t say enough about personal privacy rights. But mention Hollywood and it all goes out the window, I guess. The funny thing is, most of you have no idea the circumstances surrounding this event. No idea about this type of technology. Yet you have such strong opinions.
Its funny how this is a big deal to these self involved Hollyweird people but massive illegal immigration resulting in the 3rd worldization of the United States is not. Resulting in the dispossession of the traditional American people is not
So in brief...to heck with you Hollyweird libs. Your movies suck anyhow
She sure did crazy well in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.
Oh yea yea, sorry that’s a right. It was those hackers!
; )
Don’t expect reasonable here if its about sex.
On free republic its either Cotton Mather or saturday night on quaaludes at the Pike house
No in between
She was a whore for letting her boyfriend or whomever take a nu epic of her on her phone
Not too many here are in danger of that anyhow...lol
I wonder how many would have the same opinions if the pictures were of a mechanical device about to be patented?

“May I ask a question?
Why did you take a nude photo and post it somewhere in the first place? “
She took the photo, sent it to someone she trusted, and then deleted it. It was on the cloud, however, and in the infinite wisdom of Apple, nothing on the cloud should ever be deleted - even if you deleted it.
However, back to your original question:
No, you may not ask a question, but since you did, she doesn’t have to tell you why she took the picture.
This is what is wrong with the Conservative party in the US - they don’t understand their own platform.
As little government as possible. Beyond that, let’s say you are a Christian - you know damn well it isn’t your place to judge.
Indeed, the two questions are what’s wrong with both conservatism and Christianity in the US. I don’t know a single Christian that can make it through 24 hours without committing a single sin. The only obvious exceptions would be those Christians in comas.
It was her business, and somebody broke in and took it from her. Her gripe is legitimate, and Apple needs to right its boat or its going to die again.
I have a serious concern with her description.
She claims it is a “sex” crime. It is not.
It is a crime - theft of private property. But there is no “sex” in the crime, regardless of her state of undress. The photos in question were stolen, then released without her permission.
But there was no “sex” in the act of stealing the photos at all.
If our society continues to brand everything a sex crime, then nothing will be a sex crime.
Yes, she’s a regular Faye Dunaway.
That’s right no one has any actual responsibility for anything that ever happens to them - even when they do something with ‘stupid’ written all over it. It’s always entirely someone else’s fault. Thanks, Mr. Obama, for the clarification.
