Hello to everyone
I want to thank you all for the cheeseburgers and kitty pictures, and the prayers and good thoughts. And friendships. It means more to me than I can possibly say.
I’ve been home a few days now but I’m completely disabled, I’m on oxygen 24/7, with an oxygenatator machine because I developed pneumonia. I just can’t breathe, I’m taking advair, and have a nebulizer.
I’m still as weak as a new born horse. I can’t move without a walker, it’s agony doing the smallest of tasks like eating or bathing or using the toilet. I’m trying to get a home health aid but the insurance won’t cover it, so it looks like either tough it out or wipe out all my 401 and savings.
I do have a nurse and an physical therapist that come once a week, and Peapod does deliver groceries so its ok.
I’ll see a doctor next week and a few more specialists so hopefully ill be on the mend soon, but keep me in your good thoughts, and kitties.
Update at #216.
I know about the walker. Had to use one after I broke my back and legs were too weak to support me at first.
I’m so glad that you are home. Sorry to hear that you have developed pneumonia though. I will continue to pray for your complete recovery. Try not to get frustrated if your improvement isn’t as fast as you think it should be. I felt that way after my abdominal surgery, but finally realized that everyone’s healing process is different, and to just take each day as it comes. Things will get better. Take care, and keep us posted on your recovery.
PTL you’re at least well enough to be out of hospital! Wish I lived near you, I’d be helping all I can. Do you have relatives nearby who you could recuperate with? Anyone in your church? Neighbors? I’ll keep you in my prayers, dear lady.
Do you, by any chance, have Meals on Wheels in your area? If not, maybe you could contact a church, or perhaps a neighbor, to see if they could help you out?
Continued prayers for your swift recovery . God Bless you.
Watch out for the Advair...it can give you thrush in the back of your mouth and throat. Try to gargle and rinse real good after every use.
It’s so good to hear from you! I’ve been wondering about you.
Gefn, hang in there, sweetie. You’ve been through a mess, but every day brings you closer to being well. Keep us updated on what the doctors say. I’ll keep praying.
I need to find some kitties for you...
(Thanks, Slings)

Prayer warrior ping...please pray for the issues mentioned in post 216.
Gefn...Did you have a church before you fell ill? If so, contact your pastor or his wife...or the leader of your bible study group and let them know of your troubles. They might be willing to coordinate a schedule where one family will bring you meals for one day and then another will do the next day and so on...they can help with shopping and take some of the stress of your mother’s shoulders. If you are willing, please mention where you are so the prayer warriors might be able to help with some ideas or contacts. Check with Catholic Charities, the St. Vincent DePaul Society, United Way, Salvation Army..etc... You never know who will be your angel!
Prayers that you gain your strength back soon. Hang in there!!
Adavair and Ventolin and a very subdued lifestyle brought me through pneumonia.
Hang in there, maybe ask your primary for a Ventolin (rescue inhaler) script. It’s just amazing at restoring free breathing. It used to be called Albuterol, prescribed for asthma.
My prayers are with you.
Thank you for letting us know, dear Gefn! Prayers continue for your healing and comfort.
Prayers continuing, Gef!
Get well soon and prayers for your speedy recovery!
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully the good one will come through for you.
Glad to hear you are home! Try to be patient tho, (no pun intended ;) about regaining your strength - dh is on a similar road back, and it takes time, but it will come FRiend.
May God keep watch.
