Today is National Homemade Cookie Day. Do you have a favorite Cookie? (with or without gluten)

Today is National Cookie Day. Most everyone has a favorite cookie, some are homemade and other Combo-Cookies can only be made by well oiled machines. I enjoy some of everything once in a while. There are Chocolate Chips, Peanut Butter, Sugar, Sugar with White Confectioner's Powder on top, Fudge, Caramel Nut, and an entire constellation of Oatmeal recipies, some with raisins and nuts, some plain. One of my favorites is anything using that thin flaky dough found in Baklava recipies. I think that dough is called Phyllo. This is a lightweight flavor vehicle that can ride down either Sweet Street or Beefy Boulevard and be a perfect fit for whatever food it is wrapped around. What would your nominees be for today's Celebration Cookie?

Yep, nothing beats oatmeal raisin, IMHO!”

I’ll second that and take a dozen or so if you don’t mind sharing.

I love them with nuts, too.

Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal raisin and nuts, Shortbread with pecans, Oreo style, and wafers dusted with lemon powdered sugar.

Depends on the mood which Is my favorite. Hard to beat oreo or Chocolate chip with a glass of milk.

Chocolate chunk cookies made with Ghirardelli semi-sweet baking chips and plucked hot from the oven. Never mind the minor lip burns, the glass of ice-cold milk will make up for that. And make mine with EXTRA GLUTEN, please!

Mother’s Oatmeal/Oatmeal raisin/Frosted sugar Christmas cookies, or homemade double chocolate chip, or my brownie chocolate chip would do it up right. As always, when you go to the trouble to scratch bake, use the good stuff—real butter or Crisco, cream—use what the great old recipes call for and enjoy!

There is nothing better than the Tollhouse Cookie recipe on the Nestle Chocolate Chips bag. Just use real butter instead of margarine or shortening.

I’m a big shortbread fan, too, but they’re a close second to ginger snaps dunked in ice cold milk!

We might as well joke about it (Ebola!), while shielding our faces and skin surfaces, that is. Today’s Prediction; Somebody is going to design a Halloween Costume this month that is supposed to represent Ebola. It will glow in the dark.

My wife makes the World’s Best chocolate chip cookies.

Butter, sugar, flour, chocolate chips. That’s it.

A few of those with a glass of milk, and I’m in Cookie Heaven.

(My wife also makes the World’s Best cole slaw, macaroni salad, and macaroni & cheese.)

Her cooking and baking have contributed mightily to our 38-year marriage.

Yum!

I found the recipe on a box of Ghirardelli brownie mix, the double fudge [with the packet of chocolate sauce], I added MORE chocolate chips as well. But, any brownie recipe will work, just dish out mix in heaping tablespoons-full & bake @ 375° for 9-10 minutes, the recipe is paraphrased here.

For ther ultimate sugar coma, frost those treats with this:

6 tablespoons milk
6 tablespoons butter, room temp.
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 cup chocolate chips
1 dash vanilla extract
*Combine 1st 3 ingredients in saucepan, simmer 30 seconds, remove from heat, stir in chips and vanilla until melted, and drizzle over intended target.

To OD, put cookie/brownie on top of a dish of good vanilla ice cream...
