What Really Matters
When our children were living at home, one of our most meaningful Christmas morning traditions was very simple. We would gather our family around the Christmas tree where, in sight of the gifts we were receiving from one another, we would read the Christmas story together. It was a gentle reminder that the reason we give gifts is not because the Magi brought gifts to the Christ-child. Rather, our gifts of love for one another were a reflection of Gods infinitely greater Gift of love to us.
As we rehearsed the familiar story of angels, shepherds, and the manger scene, it was our hope that the magnitude of what God had done that first Christmas would overshadow our best attempts at displaying our love for each other.
Nothing could ever match the gift God has given us in His Son, a reality which echoes in Pauls words to the church at Corinth, Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! (2 Cor. 9:15).
Clearly, Gods willingness to send His Son to be our rescue is a gift that words cannot fully comprehend. This is the gift that we celebrate at Christmasfor Christ Himself is truly what matters most.
Twas a humble birthplace, but O how much
God gave to us that day;
From the manger bed what a path has led,
What a perfect, holy way! Neidlinger
Jesus Himself is the greatest Christmas gift ever given.
Todays passage celebrates all that God has given us. He supplies the sower with seed and bread for food (v.10), and He blesses us so we can be generous to others (v.11). Our proper response is thanksgiving to God (v.15) and gratitude that we are able to share with others because of His gifts to us (v.13).

Snowball
I made myself a snowball
As perfect as can be
I thought I'd keep it as a pet
And let it sleep with me
I made it some pajamas
And a pillow for its head
Then last night it ran away
But first it wet my bed
Shel Silverstein
Merry Christmas!

Thank you, Trish.
Billie made the graphics 6 years ago. The link for the music no longer worked so I went shopping at the Google store.
Thank you for your cute, beautiful posts with the poems. I really appreciate seeing them.
Wishing you a Blessed Christmas.

A Winter Night My window-pane is starred with frost,
The world is bitter cold to-night,
The moon is cruel, and the wind
Is like a two-edged sword to smite.
God pity all the homeless ones,
The beggars pacing to and fro.
God pity all the poor to-night
Who walk the lamp-lit streets of snow.
My room is like a bit of June,
Warm and close-curtained fold on fold,
But somewhere, like a homeless child,
My heart is crying in the cold.
Sara Teasdale

What a poignant poem, trisham. I too worry about those in the cold, human and animals, while I am cozy warm in my house.
Today is my marathon baking and candy making day. I am wishing you all a beautiful Christmas Eve eve.

Bethlehem of Judea A little child,
A shining star.
A stable rude,
The door ajar.
Yet in that place,
So crude, forlorn,
The Hope of all The world was born.

Let Every day Be Christmas
Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is good you do yourself. Norman W. Brooks
Merry Christmas, everyone!

My Bike broke down today and the tow guy was a Black Gentleman.
I told him I was a musician. he asked if i was a rapper, to which I replied:
It might be the rotor
It might be the stator
But I’m certain that the problem
Is in the alternator.
Or it could be da batt’ry
We find out that one later
Dat Triple A lady
Was such a procrastinator
She left me by da road
I coulda been eaten by a gator!
He was laughing so hard he almost went off da road. LOL (I can be such a smart aleck sometimes!)
