As always - Thanks for reminding us that these are here.
bump
But didn’t some Mathematician just prove they cant exist?
Would imagine space/time in the vicinity is sweating that out too :)
From North Carolina University. Waiting for the peer review . . .
There’s also Stephen Hawking’s “grey holes”.
How many angels did you say can dance on the head of a pin?
"Cat fights" are nothing compared to those between theoretical physicists and cosmologists!
Sheldon vs Leonard! (is Penny keeping score?)
/S
Thanks. I enjoy these and pass them on to my dad.
What was it Einstein said to Georges Lemaître (father of the Big Bang Theory)? "Vos calculs sont corrects, mais votre physique est abominable" ("Your calculations are correct, but your physics is atrocious.")
Mathematics and physics are distinct. Nothing is ever "proven" in physics, hypotheses are confirmed to model the real world accurately, or not.
Arrogant scientists probably know less than 1/100th of 1% of all there is to be known......and the very essence of science is that it is almost daily discovering ——— hold on for this ————
IT WAS WRONG!
You’d think this process, after a few thousand years, would produce some humility in scientists..........
But boy - is that rare...........
I think science progresses not from error to truth, but from partial truth to slightly more complete truth. Newton was not “wrong”, merely incomplete.
If someone asked me to “prove” Newtonian mechanics, I would demur that I do not claim that I can prove Newtonian mechanics, but rather I would assert that I find Newtonian mechanics is useful. Indeed, it is generally more useful than almost any competing theory.
Mathematicians once proved that transistor radios couldn't exist.
I wasn’t starting a cat fight merely asking a legit question
Truth is scientists don’t know what they don’t know
and one cannot experimentally ‘prove’ the big bang
and physicists as well as others said we couldn’t break the sound barrier...
the All Knowing One does we don’t
Truth is scientists dont know what they dont know
Understood. My comment meant to express your "Truth is scientists dont know what they dont know" idea in a humorous form. Arrogance & emotion can lead to some great cat fights, whether between excited females or dueling cosmological theories. (or political pundits)
Mea culpa..... sometimes my humor detector is clouded by sleepy snakiness
