Unregulated genetically modified wheat... in a second location in the United States... in Montana, the Agriculture Department said Friday.

The department said it is investigating the discovery of the Montana wheat, which is a different variety than the genetically modified wheat found in Oregon.

Re:the same method used to declare way man-made is real a fact.

Hate to be the one to break it to you, but man-made does exist. I see a lot of things in my apartment that are man-made.

Thanks for pointing out my typo.

I ought to have read:

As you likely know GMO foods have been declared safe by a consensus, the same method used to declare man-made global warming is real a fact.

I’m not the first person here to tell you that you don’t understand this subject. But here you are, yet again, spouting off about things you know absolutely nothing about. I’m not insulting you, I’m simply stating the obvious.

You are also conflating GMO with hybridization, and selective breeding.

Nonsense. Selective breeding and hybridization results in genetic modification by changing the DNA of the organism being bred. With this method, you really have no idea what you are going to end up with, but because we have been genetically modifying plants and animals in this manner for thousands of years, no one bothers do conduct safety tests on the end product. Where is your outrage?

On the other hand, with modern methods of genetic engineering (beginning around 1995), we know exactly what we are going to get rather than randomly mixing genes and hoping we deliver the desired traits. Modern bio-engineering is a much safer, more accurate, and much faster method for delivering the desired features. To claim otherwise suggests a serious misunderstanding of the entire process of genetic modification.

ignoring the fact that GMO food began to make it to market in 1994.

GMO food began making it to market thousands of years ago. Everything you eat today, except for some species of fish and maybe a tree nut or two, has been genetically modified. There is absolutely no way we could feed the earth's population without genetically modifying plants and animals. This will become even more critical in the future as the world's population increases and the amount of land available for farming declines.

Yes and just like the others you never provide any proof. Its nothing more then “trust us” or “you’re a fool”.

Yep just another strawman from someone who is either an ignorant fool or has financial interest. You’re just like Michelle Obama, wanting to use the power of the govt to control peoples diets.

I could give a crap what you eat. Why do you care so much what other people eat? Is Gods creation so abhorrent to you that you must mix it with goats or spiders to find it appetizing?

Yawn.

Let me know if you can ever manage to come up with a legitimate reason for requiring labeling on food that has been genetically modified when everything you eat has been genetically modified.

Being a scientific illiterate is no way to go through life.

Why do I need a reason to know whats in my food?

Why are you trying to hide it.

There are plenty of scientific reasons for people to know whats in their food. Also a really good one regarding being free and not subjects of some damn govt corporation.

You’d prefer to lie and cheat though.

There are plenty of scientific reasons for people to know whats in their food.

Let's see, they give you the ingredient deck and the nutritional composition. What additional information could a scientific illiterate possibly need?

Let me know when you find a food that hasn't been genetically modified.

Demanding government force industry to supply you with irrelevant information is not how conservatives behave.

There is a difference between what has been done for thousands of years and whats being done now. If you can’t admit that then I have no more time to waste on you.

Yes, there is a difference. Current methods of bio-engineering are much safer and are much more accurate than what was practiced in the past. It is also gets us where we want to go much faster. It's a win win for everyone. But that doesn't answer why you, a supposed conservative, wants to force companies to increase the cost of food by adding additional labeling to packaging that simply states what everyone with a middle school education in biological sciences knows to be true.

My 7th grader understands this issue, why don't you?

You've been eating genetically modified food your entire life. As a matter of fact, every single agricultural product available in our food supply has been genetically modified. And we are living longer, on average, than at any other time in human history.

Ah .... I see you are using the NewSpeak definition of GMO which is not even the Monsanto definition.
LOL
Not only do those who lack fact resort to ridicule, but they also resort to deception and language manipulation. That is a trait usually found in progressives and collectivists.

Kinda funny that you’d say that. People who support GMO support global argi businesses who are seeking to control our food supply using the govts power. They want to:

- regulate backyard gardens.
- restrict possession and use of non-approved seeds.
- patent the food supply
- force small farmers and family owned farm businesses out of business

It goes on and on, companies like Monsanto have a very incestuous relationship with government. They help write the regulations and push them through. They hire govt workers and their workers go to work in the govt.

I could care less what you choose to eat. You folks however want to tell me what I have to eat and start throwing insults when I don’t agree.

Kinda funny that you’d say that.

It is funny that you're whining for more government.

They want to:
- regulate backyard gardens.
- restrict possession and use of non-approved seeds.

Nancy Pelosi wants to regulate gardens? Show me.

Harry Reid wants to restrict possession of seeds? Show me.

You folks however want to tell me what I have to eat and start throwing insults when I don’t agree.

I don't care what you eat. Unless your diet is wild fish, deer and acorns, your food is genetically modified. So deal with it.

I thought they only grew GMO dental floss in Montana.

It took 22 posts.

You don't know what's in your food? Can't read the labels?

You made a silly claim and won't back it up? I'm shocked!
