This map shows how Europe would look if every separatist movement was granted its dream of independence. With the Scottish referendum just days away, the issue of regions breaking away from their traditional rulers is looming large over the continent. The map features well-known separatist movements, such as the powerful and vocal Basque Nationalist movement in northern Spain and southwestern France, as well as the more obscure, such as the Savoyan League, which supports the independence of the Savoy region of France, which has a population of around 405,500.

Spain? Think about Italy. Metternich once said “Italy is just a geographical expression”.
An independent Bavaria would probably be the most conservative state on the Continent.
All the nations seeking independence on their own land except Russians. They plaque unsuspecting welcoming neighbors, then start complaining that natives won’t speak Russian, therefore everything must become Russia. Beware of Trojan Horses and Russian tourists.
There would be one big difference - they would all belong to the superstate EU.
So people who want the UK to stay together are now “one-world government Globalists” just because of that?
It is socialists driving the Scottish “independence” vote, which means that it is not about independence whatsoever.
Correct. The EU elites blather on about how an independent Scotland would have left the EU, but that is not what the treaties say about the process of leaving the EUthe power thereof is strictly the domain of the central government in Brussels.
Agree. If enough regions act in their own cultural interests maybe Europe in general can save its identity after all.
Chitty-Chitty Bang Me (no wait, that’s the porn parody. I forget the original....)
Yeah... made me wonder when that King and Queen refused to change out of their pajamas...
a little racy for the context of that movie.
Actually I was speaking about the George Soros, Bill Clinton and the rest of the globalist left who have been coming out strongly against Scottish Independence. As for Scots who wants to stay in UK, for whatever reason (and I'm sure their are many good legitimate reasons) more power to them. Admittedly being a citizen of the US, having never been to Scotland and not even having any family background in that region, I have absolutely zero stake in the outcome, and perhaps my hope for a yes vote just so the globalists take one in the gut is a rather selfish reason. But it is what it is...
Can this lead to separatists in the USA? Texas to become its own republic again? They have threatened that for years.
It would be a way that could protect their own borders.
They could keep the riffraff from LA and AR coming into the state.
Scotland going “independent” helps the globalists rather than hurts them. Nothing works better than dividing and conquering.
I’d be perfectly content if California split up into multiple states. It’d be better for CA and for the nation.
I would really cheer if urban cesspools aka San-Fran, LA, NYC, Chicago split from their respective states. They are stealing votes and funds from good citizens of the states.
Americans here talk so casually about secession, either to say ‘I’d love my state to secede’ or ‘I wish we could get rid of those states over there messing up my united states’. I liked to play those games too, but its a whole different ball game when it becomes real and you realise that your country could be about to disintegrate.
I bet most of you would be unionists then. No sane person wants to see their own country fall to pieces.
Waiting for the Frisians to declare independence from the Netherlands and Wales from the UK.
FREISTAAT BAYERN!
And as Franz the Duke of Bavaria, is the Jacobite pretender to the throne of England, they might have to start pressing the issue!

My great-whatever Grandma was Bavarian. I was always told that she was fond of saying “Dem Chermans (germans), they is the Devil” in her heavy German accent.
They left when the Bismark took over.
