Americans here talk so casually about secession, either to say ‘I’d love my state to secede’ or ‘I wish we could get rid of those states over there messing up my united states’. I liked to play those games too, but its a whole different ball game when it becomes real and you realise that your country could be about to disintegrate.
I bet most of you would be unionists then. No sane person wants to see their own country fall to pieces.
More and more, people care less about their country, and more about their nation.
That is probably a good thing. Countries are artificial political constructs. Nations are organic and natural.
