he Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks.
No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. There is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
Since bamboo is a grass (as is also corn , wheat ,rye), how far would you sink a stone wall , or metal , to prevent the roots /shizomes from spreading ?
shizomes from spreading = rhizomes from spreading?
I’m glad that this season was a success for you. The learning curve can be cruel at times as you know. But the learning curve never ends, that keeps it interesting. I think that most people on here will tell you, there are good years and there are years when nothing seems to workout.
I hope that your injuries are healing according to plan with no long term effects.
Sometime when you are down here again, I would like to meet Bob, he sounds pretty interesting.
My pumpkins are ready to harvest and I noticed a few more butternut squash that are also ready to pick. I didn't get the peppers out but there's no danger of frost this week so I suppose they can wait a few more days. I planted a row of salad greens and a row of kale. It's probably a little late for the kale but the lettuce should be fine.
Took a section of garden fence out and moved the outhouse. I'd have worked at that all day without Nanner's help. The fence panel was grown in at the bottom and wouldn't budge so I hooked a chain to the loader bucket and yanked it out. No sweat.
NO SWEAT???? I’d be sweating for sure after all that.LOL
I had a bunch of stuff to do this weekend, and wound up not getting to do any of garden stuff I wanted to do. Just some water and a few tomatoes and peppers harvested.
No new planting, and I still have a patch of taters to dig, I want to set up a new compost area, and work on the current compost can.
Rightly! I am so glad to see you posting. I was worried, since no one had heard from you for a while. Good to see the post.
I just haven’t had anything to post. The garden season was a bust. Only some hot peppers were producing and it was the same old post each week. My last few posts were like a broken record.
Also, to be honest, I forget that Friday afternoon is the day to go to FR. I get caught up in the afternoon with the beginning of the weekend and never think of anything else. LOL
Re Pics?
No pics yet, as the boo I have is just 2-3 gal size...all ya really get for 50-60$ (+)! is a starter kit of roots/twigs to get ya going—but a boo factory none the less...next spring I expect the new shooting to start in earnest!
Semper Boo!

That’s ok, but you do have knowledge to share for questions that may arise, and I am always interested in your weather. LOL
Anyway, glad you are doing fine.
Here is a page I linked to that will explain far better than I have done the misinformation and misconceptions that generally abound regarding the subject of bamboo.
