I don’t think the Left hates America. I think the left hates our founder’s vision of America as established in our founding documents.
Before going further, let me explain my position regarding America’s government. I favor the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land. The Constitution guarantees to every state a Republican form of government. A Republican form of government means governance by the rule of law thereby avoiding a Democracy wherein a majority can ignore laws they no longer favor. In a Republican form of government, the majority makes law but a majority cannot nullify the law.
The only acceptable government is a government whose primary function is to protect the citizens’ property rights. All other forms of government are unacceptable regardless of what you label it or how you define it. The tenets of the Declaration of Independence are as applicable today as when delivered to King George III.
Our founders recognized nature’s laws and the nature of man. They recognized that some men are flawed and wrote our founding documents as obstacles to their flaws. The Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Federalist Papers, and Anti-federalist paper bear testimony to that recognition.
They did not use the documents as an attempt to improve nature’s laws or the nature of man. They recognized that some men are flawed. They understood they were unable to distinguish who the flawed men were so they wrote the founding documents as obstacles to his flaws. The founding documents don’t encourage unflawed men to become flawed.
The progressive movement, in its many forms, takes the position than man has improved since the time of the founding documents. The premise of the progressives’ agenda is that the Constitution’s limits on government power over the people are no longer necessary because man improved since then.
What the left does hate is the notion that man can feed, clothe, shelter, and educate himself and his fellow citizens without asking more from government than that they function constitutionally.
Do you think government controlled central planning for prosperity, healthcare, and the economy is possible?
Um if you hate the founder’s vision, you hate America.

The question is quite simply one of “What IS America?”
Answer that one first, and then we can move along to discussing whether the Left hates it.

They hate America because it is a major obstacle to their socialist plans to take over the world.
The left hates America because it is the shining and ultimate counterexample to every one of their pieces of dogma. I don’t think it’s any more complicated than that.
The left thinks the United States is fundamentally flawed and that the Constitution is an antiquated barrier to the Utopian “changes” they would like to implement.

Outside the US the Left is fanatically nationalist and patriotic. In fact, at one time during the Cold War Communist propaganda referred to the Communist side in any conflict as the "patriotic" side. And can you imagine any classroom in North Korea brainwashing their citizens into believing that their "lousy" country shouldn't even exist in the first place?
Communism seems to make other countries militarily strong and assertive (USSR, China, Cuba, etc.). No one messed with any of those countries under Communism. I honestly believe a Communist USA would be such a self-hating entity, it would intentionally attempt to destroy itself.
The Western Left outside the USA is pacifistic, but still nationalist and patriotic (eg Scottish National Party). A Communist USA would be not only unarmed, but self-hating.
Not to get anyone mad at me, but though the American Revolution was not a social revolution, it gave inspiration to other revolutions that were--such as the French Revolution. One could make the point that without the American Revolution (or a failed American Revolution) the Left as we know it today would never have come into existence in the first place. This makes the Left's monomaniacal and almost genetic hatred of America especially irrational.
The Left hates GOD and anything associated with GOD. Who does that make the left?
Isn't that like saying you love mankind but hate people?

One does not seek to “fundamentally change” that which one ardently loves. The left hates America, unequivocally.

I respectfully disagree that the left hates the Founder's vision of America as enumerated in the Constitution. This is for the simple reason that the feds have, to varying degrees, never worked within the restraints of their constitutionally limited powers anyway.
Another way to look at problems with federal compliance, really the lack thereof, with the Constitution is the following. Crooks long ago figured out that it is better to steal from the rich by first getting elected to federal office and then making constitutionally indefensible appropriations laws to rob the rich, as opposed to robbing banks for a living. Perhaps it is the associated counter-bribing of elected officials by the rich to include tax loopholes for the rich that the left understandably doesn't like.
But also note that my reference to "constitutionally indefensible appropriations laws" above is based on Justice John Marshall's clarification of Congress's limited power to lay taxes, Congress limited to laying taxes mainly to perform its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited power duties.

The bottom line is that the rich counter-bribe federal lawmakers for tax breaks proably because the rich don't understand Congress's limited power to lay taxes, corrupt lawmakers laughing all the way to the bank to deposit their bribes from the constitutionally ignorant rich.
The left hates the very idea of America.
Bears indeed poop in the woods and in cages in zoos and circuses. Liberals do not poop at all. They are pristine little tin gods who cannot abide the pooping of their spouse.
We have laws in our nation. One of those laws allows an aggrieved spouse to sue for divorce. We must allow liberals to divorce the rest of us for their well being and ours.
As for me and mine there is little more satisfying than a healthy poop. Send the poopless ones far away where they will not be required to abide another fragrant poop. Send them to a poop free zone where they can be happy, like NYC or Chitown or LA. That will allow everyone to live according to their heart’s desire.

The left hates America to the extent that America resists socialism.
The American left is in a uniquely awkward spot in that America’s founding is pretty explicitly hostile to leftist ideas. That’s not the case for a French leftist or a Greek leftist or a Rhodesian leftist or a Mexican leftist or any other kind of leftist.
American leftists are uniquely at odds with their nation’s core ideas.
