It’s not going to stop from me eating red meat.

I have a Brisket on the smoker as we speak.

I went high protein because the carbs were definitely killing me. Guess you can’t win.

Would like to see their methodology and determine whether there was a causal link or merely a corollary link between diet and cancer risk. Would also like to see the numbers that took part of this longitudinal study.

Seems odd that they could have a 20 year long study (going back to 1994) conclude when the Atkins diet was not big in the dieting world until around 2001. In 1994, we were still in the “low-fat, high-carb” diet phase for trendy diets.

Agenda 21 cheerleading “research” brought to you by the UN Leftist academics at the University of Spoiled Children.

My personal guess is, she’s discovered a mere statistical correlation from which she’s synthesizing a “cause and effect”.

You really can’t believe anything you read unless you know the agenda of the writer. This sounds like a PITA piece.

The reason we don’t have huge guts like our much shorter lived simian relatives is it takes less gut to process protein. The high protein diet allowed us to get bigger and have huge brains. We out live all of our simian family tree and they eat, mostly, non-protein.

I wonder if preparation methods are a factor. Does steaming and braising vs barbecuing, broiling and frying make any difference in cancer rates?

Well in that case I may as well just start smoking again!

The only comment I have is that sometimes we accept these studies a FACT and sometimes we don’t, all based on our personal bias. I’ve seen studies no more conclusive than this one practically quoted as Bible verse.

Any study that happens to support global warming activist propaganda (red meat is bad for the planet) is automatically suspect.

“Scientists” everywhere have been given their marching orders

They successfully made tobacco evil; not so much for meat though they have been trying hard for years. Now they are trying to hitch the anti meat campaign to their great work tobacco.

Another example of agenda driven research.

Ranks up there with the research that “proves” cow farts cause global warming.

Depending on food preparation I suspect you could take the study any direction you want.

The fact of the matter is that higher protein diets tend to be very successful in monitored weight loss programs. I suspect there’s quite a few people who would be upset if the war on obesity was won overnight.

Americans have been gradually educated on the metabolic poisons introduced in our food supply in the form of processed foods. They are slowly but surely taking actions to reduce exposure to overly processed foods.

Protein diets are essential where many busy, working Americans are finding that they simply don’t burn enough calories to justify the consumption of carbohydrate rich breads, fast foods, dessert entres that are so abundantly available. At a basic level those carbohydrates are never used, converted rapidly into basic sugars and absorbed as fat. Protein diets, when monitored carefully will enable people to put their bodies into ketosis and burn off fat supplies rather than feed them.

We’ve been subjected to a lot of recent hype on how raising cattle is causing global warming and threatening all of humanity. I suspect the same people are behind this crapola as well. Just about anything will give you cancer these days, and yet I suspect we are more at risk from processed foodstuffs than a healthy protein over carbs diet plan.

I eat a bit of everything with a particular fondness for carbs, whole grains especially. I eat chicken and fish with occasional red meat, perhaps once or twice a month. I fill up on fruit. I don’t make any effort to follow any plan I just eat what I like and don’t mind paying for. At $10/lb, I don’t miss steak much at all.

This is idiotic. Lung cancer is the biggie associated with cigarette smoking. The article doesn’t say what KIND of cancer is correlated with a “high-protein” diet. I guarantee you it ain’t lung cancer. Now, if it means pancreatic, that would be serious. Prostate or skin cancer, less so.

Let’s consider a more recent example of higher protein versus lower protein diets....consider the Japanese pre WWII. The average Japanese soldier was 5’3”. Their diet was remarkably lower on protein than that of American soldiers, who average height was 5’8”. The Japanese were a homogenous people with a traditional diet that had remained unchanged over hundreds of years. The Americans represented diverse heritage but all partook in a remarkably protein rich diet given the abundance of American food resources.

You know what? Enough research. Screw the left, they just suck, don’t they? They have to push all sorts of crap and never look at the consequences or learn from history. I could list a thousand pages of fact but they don’t operate by facts, just their agenda. There is no reconciliation possible with their mindless idiocy.

Everyone, hope your bbqs turn out perfectly - cheers and enjoy!
