Sheila Wellers forthcoming tell-all The News Sorority claims to offer up details on the scandalous and sometimes catty escapades of noteworthy newswomen, including how some apparently hold strong disdain for each other.
Katie Couric cultivated an American Girl identity but she was also a bully with a chip on her shoulder.
Diane Sawyer strived to be Americas Aunt but she rode her staff hard and used staged humility to disarm critics.
Christiane Amanpour was fearless in the field and would remind her bosses, Do you know that Im the worlds best-known foreign correspondent?
And, when feeling threatened, these pioneering, primetime newswomen would sometimes bare their claws at each other, according to a tell-all book that goes on sale next month.

you can’t make that stuff up
I may have to buy this book. I bunch of my girl friends went to NYC. One of the big events was a face to face meeting with Perky Katy whom they all adored. She was told someone wanted to meet her and she walked toward them. When she was it was a bunch of middle age women from Texas, she made a face, snorted, turned around and walked off, refusing to even wave at them. Needless to say she is no longer their favorite.
Project much, Kate?
typo......... when she SAW it was ..........
Um, didn’t Sawyer once land an interview with Fidel Castro???
Well, at least we know therell be a part for Ron Jeremy in the book’s movie adaptation ...
Are we surprised that female reporters are women?
I guess she’ll never make it in politics!
I was at a fundraiser on Sunday and there were a lot of politicians there. They were all nice, but one woman stood out from all the rest. She is a FORMER legislator whom I’d never met before. However, I feel like I know her because I watch her every Sun. morning on a local political commentary show where she is part of the panel.
I called to her as she walked by me. She came over with a huge smile and greeted me. Of course, I felt like I knew her, but she had never laid eyes on me. I commented on her show that morning (which had been taped on the Friday before) and we exchanged a few comments about the topics and about the other panelists. We had a few laughs and chatted for about 10-15 minutes. She made me feel like what I had to say was important to her.
My husband and I both commented on how nice she is in person and how we hoped that she’d get back into the legislature. I’m not sure why she left, but I think she’s between residences. I think her kids are still in school where she lived and represented before, while she is in the process of moving closer to me now.
THAT’s a politician!
What? Did she threaten to have sex with them if they did not submit to an interview?........................
Yes, I read that and that is why I have no respect for Walters.
Katie is just bitter she had no takers on her offer for sex
She didn’t do a Hillary interview?..................
Shades of Gail Hailstorm.
You are one of the lucky ones.
Monkey girls, all.
Oh the things I have heard women call other women @ work ( and I heard it, they knew it and smiled) and in other professional environments would make a long shore-man blush. You are right, nothing new, lets move along.
The problem for Katie is that in order to negotiate a trade, one must offer something of value in the trade...
“Katie is just mad ‘cause she did the same thing but Diane got better interviews out of it.”
Diane was probably better in the sack.
