By Jeremy Gorner
A man on a bike was fatally shot by police on the Far South Side after he aimed a gun at officers, authorities said.
A Calumet District tactical team had tried to stop the 21-year-old man for questioning as he rode a bicycle in the 13300 block of South Forrestville Avenue about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said.
Someone had earlier called police about an armed man on a bike, according to a preliminary statement from the Chicago Police Department. Police: 21-year-old man fatally shot Pat Camden, spokesman for Local 7 of the Fraternal Order of Police, talks about a police-involved shooting just outside the Altgeld Gardens public housing complex where police shot and killed a 21-year-old allegedly armed with a gun.
When officers trained a spotlight on the man, he pointed a gun at their unmarked squad car, according to Pat Camden, a police union spokesman.
An officer jumped out of the squad car and chased the man, who jumped off the bike and began to run, authorities said. The man pointed a gun toward officers and police shot him, according to the police department's statement.

Wow, it takes a tach team to stop a guy on a bike? chicago IS a tough town.
Quick, call Jesse and Al!
It would be nice to know whether the cops announced themselves to ensure the gentleman knew at whom he was firing.
Otherwise, if someone shines a bright light at me and chases me through the streets guns drawn, my trigger finger might get a little itchy too.
we have his name but as yet I have been unable to locate any photos of the dead perp.
the riots cant erupt until the tshirts and banners have been printed...
Altgeld Gardens is where Obama used to do community organizing.
That wasn’t a gun. It was Skittles.
OTOH, it may have been a simple case of suicide by cop.
I see Chief Craig in Detroit has turned up on another drug/gang hit list. His response is “Not if we get you first” and an increase in the raids of drug houses.
Was LeRoy Brown involved?
Beat me to it!
“After the shooting, about 40 or 50 residents gathered outside red police tape marking the perimeter of the crime scene, exchanging information. A few of them cursed and shouted at the eight police officers who stood next to one another inside the red tape, saying nothing.”
