The Constitution Party of Idaho has rejected its gubernatorial candidate.
The Lewiston Tribune reports in a story on Wednesday that delegates at the party's recent state convention in Cascade voted against endorsing Steve Pankey for governor.
The 63-year-old Pankey describes himself as celibate, a born-again Christian, and Idaho's first openly gay gubernatorial candidate.
Constitution Party Chairman Floyd Whitley says Pankey's advocacy for same-sex marriage goes against party beliefs.

OK, so why is the gay candidate seeking the endorsement of the only party left that might oppose his agenda? Any guesses? (And it’s NOT because he is a born-again Christian.)
He should just stick to the Libertarian Party and be done with it.
I like the Constitutional party’s platform if they could attract some stronger candidates.
For bonus points - imagine Bawnwy Fwank saying it.
“openly gay gubernatorial candidate Steve “Hanky” Pankey”
Bottom line is there are no “GAY” people, they are and should be always be referred to as “SODOMITES”.
Lets not get trapped into political correctness...it is poison.
The trajectories of 3rd, 4th, 5th etc. parties and their candidates, and their followers/members often entertain.
infiltration and subversion
the lefties have been doing that for a long time
We really need a 2nd party in this country
“We really need a 2nd party in this country”
It might be argued that depends on the meanings of words like
“we”
“need”
“party”
etc.
I remember 2000, when FR was giddy over Pat Buchanan, and he got 0.5%
When discussion goes to 3rd, 4th 5th parties, what “we need” etc., I usually reflect on that election, as a reality check.
Of the comments made thus far, this one is the most astute. Our explanation of the refusal to grant endorsement is found at www.cpidaho.org. We humor ourselves that our other articles are informative and engaging. The bottom line in this particular case is that a complicit press accepted the words of an admitted liar without verification. By implication, the individual also admits to his own cowardice. The position of the Constitution Party is that our state and nation has no shortage of liars and cowards in government right now. We need not add any more. Respectfully, Whitley, Chairman, CP-Idaho.
Impressive platform at their site.
Welcome to Free Republic.
Correspondence from the discredited candidate Mr. Pankey perhaps should be published, both for perspective and frankly in our defense. The extent of the gentleman’s deception is evident from sequential excerpts, if there is interest to do so here. Whitley, Chairman, CP-Idaho
