Elizabeth Daly, now 21, and her friend had their car swarmed by state agents after their case of water was mistaken for beer Daly had initially sought $40million in damages for a tremor in her right hand, intense anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and other problems The young women had been shopping at a local Virginia grocery store one night in April 2013 for a charity fundraiser the next day A college student in Virginia reached a $212,500 settlement on Wednesday following her arrest last year when state agents had mistaken a case of water for beer.
Attorney General Mark R. Herring announced that Elizabeth Daly, now 21, had reached a settlement in state court. She had initially filed a $40 million federal lawsuit against agents with the state Alcoholic Beverage Control unit.
Herring said the settlement was not an admission of wrongdoing by any of the parties in the lawsuit.
Daly had left a Charlottesville, Virginia, supermarket in April 2013 when her car was surrounded by state ABC agents, one of whom drew a firearm and another who had jumped onto the hood of her car.
They had mistaken her carton of La Croix sparkling water for beer that her friend had purchased.
Daly said she became frantic when unmarked agents surrounded her vehicle, banging on the windows and demanding that she roll them down. One of her two friends in the car had allegedly said that the badges were fake and told her to 'go, go, go' according to the lawsuit cited in the AP report.
Unsure whether they were in fact agents, she and her friend fled the scene in the car, grazing two of the agents in the process.

The states are whores and their payment is the federal highway funds. Uncle John gets a BJ or he cuts off the $$.
The irony is that the feds take the money, then make the states kiss the federal ass to get *some* of it back. Everything belongs to Washington, and we have to prostrate ourselves before our rulers to get a few crumbs....of our own earnings.
Did these Jackbooted incompetents even get demoted?
None of these LE goose steppers ever seems to suffer much for the hurt they inflict on innocent civilians. Rarely, at any rate.
I spoke too soon.
I doubt it cost them a thing. The cops lost what? The administrators and bureaucrats in the city lost what? They aren’t learning any lessons because it is not their money.
The taxpayers are robbed again.
Okay Okay I see your point. Most just get the cheap clear plastic bottles.
As for Perrier I never touch the stuff myself.
Exactly. When there are no consequences, there is no restraint on the actions of fascist thugs and bullies.
“How is it dumb? Wasting hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars on a hit-and-run suspect? Oh, I am sorry. Her charges were dropped because the mob wanted her off the hook. How convenient - run over cops and get off the hook!”
Uh, no. Her charges were dropped because she was guilty of only trying to run from unknown attackers. The pigs almost got run over by their own stupidity in assuming these girls understood they were cops. As in my above post, the girls had only moments to react to an attack, including a nut with a gun. Remember they were innocent of the reason for the stop. They had no reason to expect a police encounter.
It isn’t like this was two guilty people running from the consequences. Cops routinely cite their confusion when they make a mistake and harm the innocent, even in ridiculous situations like the Dorner hunt idiocy. Why then must our moments count decisions have to be more perfect than those of cops? Because we don’t have the magic badge?
These cops deserved what they got. If one had been killed, they’d have deserved it. Here is a tip. Next time, have a cop in a flipping uniform to make the stop. Under age drinking isn’t worth people getting hurt or killed over a misunderstanding. And keep the flipping gun holstered until you have a real reason to pull out the penis extension.
And we all go marching along to the reeducation camps.
They need to be paying this up personally
Anyone who pays more for a bottle of water than a gallon of gas should have their head examined. Get a plastic bottle or two, clean them, refill with tap water and put them in the fridge.
Yep!
I was accosted by an unmarked cop (for nothing more than being 18 and driving the speed limit) who didn't show ID and then threatened me for not pulling over right away. They asked to be road kill and would have deserved it had that been the outcome.
The ABC agents had just been transferred from another district where they had been violating policies. The director of that district just resigned after this incident.
The students had just come from a rape awareness class. They stopped to buy water for some volunteer project.
After moving down the road a short distance, they pulled over and called 911 to indicate that they thought they were being attacked. The ABC agents were leaning on the vehicle when they took off, so that’s their own fault.
Of course, why should you give a shit? Only when it’s your daughter. Then you’ll make a prediction that no child of yours would ever do such a thing.
” Yep!

I watched a video a few months ago of a uniformed cop and two undercover cops get into an argument so fierce that if they’d remembered they had guns, they might have gone for it right in the streets.
The issue was, criminals had learned to imitate undercover officers and robbing people. (Thanks pigs for giving criminals that tool.) The uniformed officer stopped and unholstered his weapon to investigate the stop. The undercover guys got upset that he DARED draw a gun on them. 1. that ignores that he didn’t know who they were.
2. Bet they didn’t think twice about pointing guns at other people.
It’s just amazing how blind undercover guys seem to be. All they see is themselves.
Well said.
What u said
Not enough.
lol....
Grazed the cops, not run over them. Please be honest with yourself.
“All this over something as small as under age drinking. And not even guilty of it.”
Exactly. Supposed they HAD bought beer. Is it now OK to shoot people for illegally buying beer?
There were several agents there, they couldn’t have approached these girls in some manner that didn’t scare the cr*p out of them? Is is just lucky nobody was seriously hurt or killed.
It’s like nobody can do their job properly anymore. Like I mean nobody, from the floor sweeper to the POTUS.
