Okay with me. I’m the second of three generations in this family to love JRR. Can’t wait for the next Hobbit movie. When I went to see the The Fellowship of the Ring the first time and Hobbiton was shown, I cried. I wish my mother could have seen these movies before she died. She read them every year and then when her eye sight failed we got her an early audio book version. (she died in 1999) Some people don’t get fantasy. Mr. Mercat and two of my children are like that. Me and my oldest love it. Can’t get enough.

My only complaint was that the other Rangers weren’t included. Aragorn was not a lone ranger.

Just great. I waited and waited for the extended length director's cut box set to get released on blu-ray and now he suggests this.
Funny, I still haven't found the time to sit down and watch them yet. I have yet to see a LoTR movie.

No Scouring of the Shire? Then why bother?
I want to see a bunch of hobbits kicking the heck out of a large band of ruffians!

Oh great, so I can fall asleep a half hour earlier into Return of the King than I did in the theater.

I received the Extended Version DVD box set for Christmas 4 years ago. I am satisfied with that.

I was a bit disappointed with the film adaptations by this Jackson fellow. Especially how the battle scenes dominate the movie. He should have spent much more time developing the plot and characters.
Maybe some day it will be done right. About an hour of film for every 100 pages is what you need to do a book adaptation justice. So we are talking about an 11 1/2 hour movie here.

If you like watching the characters walk and walk and walk or ride and ride and ride then the extended version is for you. The movies could have been cut in half and be better for it.
