Musk ox invasion keeps Nome wildlife managers busy

Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.

Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

I slept over an hour, but I had also taken some Ibuprofen, and turned on the heating pad. I feel a lot better. And the sun is trying to shine.

I did two somethings that were noteworthy...took a nap and then took a shower. Both are missing...

I’m glad you’re feeling better. We put in a long afternoon between talking about Cub Scouts and working on music stuff, and then went to Walmart. When we got home, I gave the kids some ice cream, except for Frank, who ran off up the street to play with his new friend, Eli. I told Eli’s parents to send him home when he says he’s hungry.

I’ll put their supper in the oven in a few minutes. Kathleen will probably fall asleep watching Pokémon, but that won’t hurt. It was too late for a real nap when we finished up at church.

I’m looking forward to bedtime, big time!

We got a little rain this morning, but I don’t think it was enough to do much more than lift the oil on the streets.

It’s still overcast, even though the sun has been trying to shine. I’m about ready for bed.

I hope I sleep well tonight. The nap I had this morning was a surprise for me, so I have no clue how the night will go.

It’s possible Busdaddy will be getting a dog in a few days. My niece is giving one away. Right age, spayed and good with The Little Redhead. We will see.

A dog is nice, but it needs someone at home to pay attention to it.

We’re all going to bed. Frank is such finishing his ice cream, which he missed earlier.

I go over at least once a week, and if I had to, I could stay a couple of days. No biggie. I can’t have one of my own, but I can sure love someone else’s!

Fredd has hurt his left rear leg/paw. I am going to take him to the vet in the morning. We think it is a fracture of the rear paw.
