23 Years For Nurse Who Raped Young Child, Conspired To Rape 18-Month-Old

VERNON — A former nurse practitioner from Vernon admitted in court on Thursday that he raped a 3-year-old girl and conspired to rape an 18-month-old baby.

Jay Mohler-Avery, 46, in pleading guilty, also admitted trying to get the mother of the 18-month-old to move her four children and herself in with him so they could be his sex slaves.

He claimed, according to the police investigation, as outlined by prosecutor Elizabeth C. Leaming, that children would not be harmed by having adults sexually exploit them.

"Children should be able to explore their sexual curiosity in the home with other children as well as adults," Mohler-Avery told the 18-month-old's mother, according to Leaming. Mohler-Avery also badgered the woman for days to bring her 18-month-old daughter to him so that he could "break her in early," Leaming said.

So it's unjust that they didn't give him "life, with no possibility of parole."

Even if they had, another judge could decide to "revisit" it, perhaps years from now.

Still, as it is, he will be dead before his 23 years are up: he may be dead on Day One if he other cons get ahold of him.

That could be ... that Boston priest who was actually a pedophile didn't last long. However, I don't think this form of "justice" speaks well of our society. If we, through our organs of criminal justice, aren't willing to sentence him to death, we shouldn't be sneaks and let someone else assume the responsibility.

A prison sentence should be a sentence of incarceration, not a sentence to death, beating, or rape. It just not an honorable way to operate.

I’ve never heard of “Prison Fellowship” sorry. I fail to see how complaints are made of “ with mandatory services, Bible study, and prayer for the participants” if they volunteered to be in the program?

“A guy who assumed the girl was willing, but later she says she was drunk and didn’t know what she was doing and tried to protest but he didn’t understand her because she seemed to be going along, shouldn’t die over that.”

Tell your son to be careful of who he dates!!! You tell your daughter to be careful of men so why not your son?

People could avoid a lot of this if they waited till marriage to have sex but then I am just this old nun what do I know?

Prison Fellowship is an international prison ministry organization founded by the late Chuck Colson, of Watergate fame.

Iirc, the complaint was that having a Christian program doing operations, as opposed to just visiting, in the prison was “establishment of religion.”

Was “Prison Fellowship” actually running the prison? Or just a program? Now I’m confused.

They were operating, I guess, a unit of the prison, a section, in which all the inmates had volunteered for their program.

"Oddly enough when you find a truly repentant criminal they usually embrace their punishment because they know it is just."

This is true, and something that only fairly recently struck me about the crucifixion of the repentant thief (or revolutionary/murderer, or whatever he was) on the cross next to Jesus.

The man ("Dismas") never tried to prevent or even argue against his own execution. He testified from his own cross that he and the other outlaw were getting their just deserts for the crimes they had committed, but that Jesus had done nothing wrong.

In other words, he recognized the justice of the death penalty in his own case, and the difference between executing a capital criminal, and murdering and innocent man.

When he turned in trust to Jesus, Jesus did not rescue him from execution. He said "This day you will be with Me in Paradise."

Reminds me of a story.

Worked in big hospital on surgical pre and post op floor. One of the 3-11 staff was a very light in the loafers male LPN nurse. His job was to do all the male shaves on this busy 60 bed unit. This was back in the era of nipples to knees pre-op preps.

There was never a happier LPN in all of the state than this guy. He SANG through his work. Grinning from ear to ear. I would check up on him occasionally, never found anything untoward, but often the guys he was shaving looked a bit trapped.

Neither bestial nor demonic, but rather savage, from the basic need to protect the vulnerable avenge the innocent.

I hear ya...I know what you mean.Your post reminds *me* of a story from my battles. One day,out of the blue,I got a memo from my boss, the VP of Ambulatory Services, that in future all patients that we transported down to "Ward X" (pathology) were to be transported by *two* people,at least least one of whom must be female.Long story short,I never knew of any of our staff who had even been "inappropriate" with any of our most unfortunate patients but then I was "administration" and that would have been a "nursing" issue. But we did have one male nurse's aide who was,as you say,*very* light in the loafers and he did disappear mysteriously at about the time of this memo. But then, the memo could have simply been the result of an article that Legal saw in "Hospital Lawyer" monthly...some article about a hospital that had been successfully sued for millions for...well,you know.

"Neither bestial nor demonic, but rather savage, from the basic need to protect the vulnerable avenge the innocent."

Devising hellish methods of torture --- competing with each other to find THE most abominable method of torture --- has ZERO to do with protecting the vulnerable. In fact, it makes the torturers themselves vulnerable to obsessions, infestations and possession by the Evil One.

Torturers (and people who openly get off on sadistic boasting and torture-fantasy) are deforming their minds and instincts in a way that makes them more and more resemble the horror they think they are exterminating.

And "avenging"? This is forbidden by Jesus Christ.
