Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh was fired up on Wednesday following Sen. Thad Cochrans controversial victory over tea party-backed state Sen. Chris McDaniel in Mississippi on Thursday. Cochran reached out to traditionally Democratic voters blacks and union members in a last-ditch effort to beat McDaniel.
The Republican establishment sought victory via Democrat voters in the runoff, and they got them. Without the African-American vote from Democrat-leaning counties, Thad Cochrane would have lost by eight or nine percent last night, Limbaugh said, calling the tactic reprehensible.
Limbaugh cited a flyer, posted by journalist Charles Johnson that suggested McDaniel and the tea party wanted to prevent blacks from voting in the Mississippi runoff election on Tuesday. Cochrans critics allege the longtime senators campaign was behind the flyers.

After the heinous tactics Cochran and the GOP Establishment employed last night to viciously smear and “defeat” Daniel, I am hereby revoking my philosophy to support the GOP nominee in a given race under the guise that electing a RINO is somehow better than electing a Dem. If Cochran doesn’t get anywhere with his legal challenges, then I hope he runs as a write-in candidate in November. He could feasibly still win and quite frankly I’m all for doing what it necessary now to start taking out some of these despicable RINOs at the ballot box so we can finally assemble a true opposition party that actually stands for the Constitution, conservatism, and limited government.
Rush is usually mild mannered on primaries. And rarely comments or take sides. This was an historic despicable act.
Levi will be a must listen tonight. He will go off.
Good for Rush! About a decade ago he suddenly became a Bushbot party hack. I have a number of theories why, but it broke my heart and I couldn’t stand to listen anymore. Glad to see that era over.
Welcome to the darkside.
You will find a growing number of us evil purists populating the clubhouse. We welcome you to sanity. Just be forewarned that you will henceforth be attacked by many of your former BFFs online because you just committed a blasphemy to their quest for a more leftward GOP.
I hope more join you here.
While the flyer is infuriating, and we all know what Cochran did to us ... the system is also at fault for permitting crossover voting in a Primary. I am constantly astounded at systems that do that. Even Rush himself has called on us to use that tactic in reverse.
I’ve got zero problem being up in arms over this, but let’s make sure we have the correct target.
It’s a Pyrrhic victory to me. So Cochran wins with the help of Democrats, who in turn vote for the DEMOCRAT in the election. And Cochran loses. How is this really a win? It’s STUPID.
Problem with starting a new party is we (thinkers) would be even more outnumbered than we are now. We don’t want to splinter off and make a smaller party.
The GOPe’s worked harder to get black voters to a GOP primary
than they ever have in a general election.
On his radio show, Michael Medved praises Cochran’s appeal to Democrats to vote for him in the primary, saying that the GOP should do more to appeal to blacks and others beyond its base. It is McDaniel, says Medved, who engaged in skulduggery, because his staffers broke into his wife’s nursing home to photograph her. And Cochran, he argues, is a solid conservative.
And long before that, Rush Limbaugh (shown below as "Jeff Christie") was right even in McKeesport, PA:
Yes, run but first challenge these votes.
Ever dance with the devil in the cold moonlight? Thad did, now he owes them. Fine fine a$$ed Republican
Hmmm... “appealing to others” does NOT involve calling your base “racists”.
Oh, my man I love him so, he’ll never know...
Oops! I was singing about Rush not Nicky Arnstein in Funny Girl.
Quick question.
Why are the GOP SCARED of the tea party? Thank-you ahead for your response.
Heard Rush “explode” today.
Those look like 8-track tapes piled all around him.
