Yep, that.
Or plain cheese with ground hot chillie peppers.
But in both cases, the cheese has got to be good. And thick. And not just be in the midle, and leave the outer half a breaded wasteland.
Or pepperoni - sometimes.
But pepperoni needs to OVERLAP, dammit. They aren't supposed to be islands. And they still have to have some good cheese underneath them.

Hogwash... A basic NY pie, to me, has shrooms and swine.
Best Chowder I ever has was at the Alumni Club in Lincoln NE. Believe it or not.
The best pie I ever had was in Corinth, NY... legit Margherita pie with the colors of the flag... sauce, riccotta, fresh basil... Thin crust.
Here in western PA... the local pizza place is run by a guy from NYC... but the crust is still too poofy for my liking... that slice in that pifture Nails it... nonpoofy crust... cracker thin... love that.

yuk, I just had a stromboli Friday and noticed it had this crumbly sausage and it tasted OFF like it was old or spoiled. I tried picking it out of the stromboli but it crumbled into smaller pieces and I just lost my appetite. It’s going to be a while before I ever get the craving for a stromboli again.
