Osteen explained that his core message is helping people let go of their pasts, reach their dreams, have a healthy self-image and raise good children. While homosexuality is part of addressing life issues, the pastor said he doesnt want to be defined by his views on the issue.
Let's not get bogged down with issues like sin, redemption, Jesus, etc.

"Osteen explained that his core message is helping people let go of their pasts, reach their dreams, have a healthy self-image and raise good children" In other words, just like any other run-of-the-mill motivational speaker.

Straight up heretic. When he whiffed on the Gospel during the Larry King interview, that told me everything I needed to know about him.

I try to stay in my lane of what I feel called to do.
...which apparently doesn't involve upholding the Law of God. Gotcha.
Godless mega-Church preachers, screen doors on submarines, coal shipments to Newcastle... all have something in common, in my mind. Aside from getting him his 15 minutes of fame (and plenty of cash), doesn't the word "pointless" come to mind, at very least? God help anyone who actually listens to him... or else "pointless" could easily morph into "poisonousness".

I don't think he'll be the first big name evangelical-ish preacher to cave.
[The topic] does come up in interviews and things
They're probing to find someone who will.

Joel isn’t interested in what Paul told Timothy:
We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurersand for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.
Why get bogged down in the BIBLE, right, Joel??
To: Gamecock
Joel, why don’t you grow up and act like a real Christian.

Olsten preaches what I like to refer to as “Squishtianity.” He preaches a contentless, touchy-feeling “Gospel” with a lot of pop psycho-babble and tear-jerking illustrations designed for church-goers who are addicted to American Idol and daytime tv.

Lilly-livered coward. He has denied Christ in front of the world. He may be enjoying his rich life here on earth, but nothing in the world is worth your eternity!

and yet there is a FReeper that has a Joel Osteen Word of the Day daily thread here... As far as I am concerned, this guy is a charlatan and a phony. One of the worst kinds of televangelist hustlers out there today.
To: Gamecock; All
So does Osteen truly believe he is doing God’s work or is he knowingly trying to deceive people? I think he is truly evil behind that phony facade of a smiley touchy feely guy.
